Today we’d like to introduce you to hippEmama.
hippEmama, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a lifestyle blogger, fashion stylist, event coordinator, all-around creative, and mother to a beautiful, smart, and talented four-year-old boy! As a child, I was very creative, crafty, and resourceful and that has never changed. I fell in love with clothes, mainly thrifted pieces, back in high school. Once I got my first job, my parents weren’t buying my clothes anymore and I hated spending all my coins just to look like everyone else. Thrifting gave me the freedom to be creative and grow my one of a kind style without breaking the bank. I ended up graduating from Georgia Southern University with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design and dove headfirst into the fashion world, interning at Nordstrom and a vintage boutique in College Park was just the boost and experience I needed. I’m proud to say that I am an artist and have been my entire life.
As for styling, I have always dressed my friends and family for first dates, job interviews, and parties; and they referred to me as their stylist. Once my phone started ringing and my calendar started filling up, I decided to turn my talent into a business. My client base continues to grow by word of mouth and I enjoy shopping for and dressing an amazing, diverse list of male and female clients who inspire me to keep seeking out all things new, challenging, different, and magnificent.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m an all-around creative, but I focus mainly on personal styling, frugal living, and lifestyle blogging. I’m extremely passionate about thrifting and I just want people to know that you can look like a million bucks, without spending it. I host an Annual Frugal Fashion Wars competition showcasing fly, thrifted, and frugal fashion and it’s so amazing and refreshing to see such beautiful minds on the runway! Next one is August 24th!
I’m also always sharing inspiration, D.I.Y. ideas, and projects, fashion, and beauty find, and bits and pieces of hipster life in Atlanta. Forever sharing experiences from other creative and artistic individuals who are dreaming big and creating their own happiness, all while saving a little kale (cash). hippE promotes love and support for the community, healthy living and self-care! I believe art heals and with a dab of faith, nothing is impossible!
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Three things: One, stay true to yourself, your morals, and your beliefs. Two, have faith and stay positive. Three, work hard and represent your brand well always.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I am currently getting ready for my 3rd Annual hippE Frugal Fashion Wars Competition! It will be August 24, 2019, at Stained Gallery @ Artlanta this year! Come rub elbows with some of Atlanta’s hottest stylists, artists, creatives, and professionals. It’s truly a rewarding and bomb networking event! You don’t want to miss the dopest, most creative, and most rewarding networking style competition! It’s a real treat and tickets are going on sale soon!
Also, Photoshoots, video shoots, special event, you name it, hippE has you covered, literally! Lol! I am always down to create dopeness with creatives and I currently offer personal styling, personal shopping, wardrobe styling, style workshops and so much more!
