Art & Life with Tiffany Huynh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Huynh.

Tiffany, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was born in Orange County, California to two Vietnamese parents. They moved to Birmingham, Alabama (where I was raised) and I found myself in Marietta, Georgia at the age of 23. My parents, while being great, were your typical tiger mom and dad. Fierce and cold, but they did truly love us in their own way. They were and are kind of tough on me and my older two sisters which has shaped me to be the person I am today. During my high school years, however, I fell into a rough lifestyle partly due to uncontrollable circumstances, and partly due to my declining mental health and overall poor choices. I was in and out of homelessness, group homes, and juvenile detention. I was away from my family and friends for so long it’s like I almost forgot who I was- so I found art. I have always enjoyed drawing and singing. But I never made the choice to try and mastering my talents until I found pain in life. I’m so happy to say that my life has turned around, I’m closer to my family, have so many friends around me. Art saved my life. It’s now my time to do what I love to do, and share it with the world.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a jack of all trades. I draw, song, do stand up and have a passion for cooking! Any time I’m feeling down I look to my drawings/paintings to feel better. I could sit in my basement and create for hours. As for singing, I’m not that great at writing! But I practice every day. And stand up just comes naturally to me. I make mental notes of all the conversations I have, save the funniest bits and type them out in my phone. I’ll record myself over and over to make sure I have just the right emotion, facial expression, and timing to ensure perfect delivery for my audience. The best way to get to know me is to look at my artwork.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
Everyone knows art doesn’t always pay the bills, especially not when you’re just starting out. It’ll take a lot of sacrifice from your own social life, but believe in yourself! You can get through it. Be careful with your spending so you can have the supplies you need/ miss work for gigs. Do you really need that new pair of shoes RIGHT THIS SECOND?

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
