Check Out Da’Nall Wilmer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Da’Nall Wilmer.

Hi Da’Nall, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am an author, educator, and mentor originally from Baltimore, Maryland. I’m also a proud alumnus of Clark Atlanta University, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the founder of the “Boys in the Good” Youth Leadership Program. Currently, I teach at the Ron Clark Academy here in Atlanta, Georgia. My experiences as an educator influenced me to write two children’s books, “The Good Book: A Kid’s Guide to Becoming a Successful Student Leader,” and my most recent project, “The Great Book: A Kid’s Guide to Understanding the Greatness in Extroverts and Introverts.” My ultimate mission with this latest platform is to teach children that we are unique and special no matter who we are.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. My most recent struggles inspired me to write my second book. Last year, the pandemic was very hard for many of us, including me. I hit a low point in my life and battled with depression for most of the year. It was a time when I lost confidence in myself and almost forgot how special I am. It was also a time of solitude where I learned more and more about myself. Through God, therapy, acceptance, and my support system, I was able to work through my pain and begin the process of healing. Suddenly, I decided to use my pain as inspiration. Writing “The Great Book” was a healing process for me because it allowed me to share my story navigating the world as an introvert. It also inspires kid’s around the world that no matter who you are, whether an introvert or extrovert, then you are GREAT no matter what. It’s something my struggles taught me and a message that I would like others to understand.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
There are many different ways to describe someone who’s GREAT. Maybe it’s what you say or the things that you create. Your personal characteristics often define who you are. Respecting our differences is what makes us GREAT by far. Whether you’re an extrovert, introvert, or somewhere in between. Read THE GREAT BOOK to understand a really important theme. Through fun, rhymes, and inspiring stories from two real-life friends, THE GREAT BOOK teaches about the uniqueness that extroverts and introverts have within. With the help of Tyrell and Chantel, you can learn how to treasure different personalities and shine like a star. Whether you’re reserved or expressive, follow along to understand how GREAT we truly are.
