Check Out Alexandria Higgs’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Higgs.

Hi Alexandria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’ve always had a love and passion for music. I knew I wanted to work in the industry since I was a young girl. I started off as an A&R throughout high school for local artists, then graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and Entertainment Media Management. I managed a music venue here in Atlanta for four and a half years until I was laid off the top of the pandemic. After much-needed R&R I started my company! The best things are born during a flesh-eating pandemic amirite! Lol, This past year has been so beautiful! I learned a lot, met some really great people, added more artists to my roster, wrote a book, and most importantly got to attend live shows!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
They always say, “the first year of marriage is the hardest.” I recently celebrated my one-year anniversary for my company on October 13th! It has been an amazing yet, crazy experience, and the pandemic didn’t make things any easier. I struggled with start-up costs, creating a name for myself, and refining my services. To overcome my challenges I pushed myself and put myself out there more. I started a segment on IG called, “Free 15 Fridays”, where I go live for 15 minutes at noon to talk about whats happening in the industry, answer any questions a new artist might have and give out some free advice. I also started inviting local emerging artist on there too as well to give advice to emerging artists. The Later App has also saved me time when it comes to being consistent with posts and content. I am also learning to talk about my business every chance I get to build confidence and a name around my brand.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and CEO of an artist management and consulting firm called ALEX&RIA LLC. I currently manage two R&B and Soul artists from Atlanta, Anthony David, and Dri Jack. I consultant emerging artists and help them cultivate careers rooted in safety, sustainability, longevity. What sets me apart from the rest is my knowledge from working in music venues. I know how to write contracts, negotiate deals, know what to do and except for show days, etc. I coach new artists on how to navigate this industry with education and protection.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
