Today we’d like to introduce you to Amani Billups.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first started doing photography in August 2021 as a hobby. I started off with landscape shots and nature shots with a point-and-shoot I got from Best Buy for like $200. A coach I know asked me to come out to a training session for football and he loved the photos, so after that I proceeded to stick with sports photography. A former player myself it came second nature to me. Then as time went on I met some creative and talented people meanwhile I was improving my craft every time I could. I got my LLC in July of 2021 and ever since then I’ve been perfecting my craft and working hard but smart.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My road has actually been smooth for the most part. The only issue I ran into and sometimes still today is that sometimes it can be too much work, dealing with many clients and trying to balance being in school is tough. I always take some time away to rest mentally and sometimes that means I can’t show up to everything when someone needs me. I’m always going to give 110% and I would like for my mental to be right to produce the best work possible.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer and videographer. I specialize in sports photography and am known for that as well. From time to time I branch out to do some lifestyle photography or event things but I’m always going to stick with sports because it’s something I excel in. I am most proud of my dedication to my work and the people I’ve met while I’ve been working. What sets me apart from others I believe is that when you see my work you’ll know it’s mine I think my work has a distinctive look every time so I would say my authenticity, because regardless of everybody else’s work I’m true to myself and my look and I’m proud of it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Patience
Passion
Drive
Optimism
Consistency
