Check Out $aucellina Suavé’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to $aucellina Suavé.

Hi $aucellina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
So I actually decided to do music while I was staying in Atlanta, GA. I was in grad school at Clark Atlanta University, pursuing my Masters in Chemistry. I knew I really didn’t want to be in grad school, but I needed something new to do to get me out of South Carolina. I didn’t like the program, so I ended up withdrawing from school. I grew up a dancer and in orchestra but I needed something else to get my creative juices flowing. I released my first song on SoundCloud in 2019 and I’ve been doing music since then.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My main struggle was building confidence recording. I needed to find my sound and build a brand around myself. I’ve always been into fashion, so I had the aesthetics down. But I needed to get the auditory appeal to follow the aesthetics. Staying consistent and motivated has been hard as well—everybody doesn’t move with pure intentions and creativity so dealing with people in the music community can be off-putting. But ultimately, I love the process and freedom I have with my music thus far.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a recording artist—rap genre specifically. I’m known for whispering over heavy 808 beats. I like contrasting themes in my songs. I’m also known for my streetwear style. I like to dress in more masculine clothes with a very feminine overtone. I love accessorizing and wearing bright-colored hair. Even when I dress feminine—I love adding an edgy feel to my outfits. I’m most proud of breaking into the Upstate SC scene so quickly. I’ve been nominated for awards and doing shows and acclimating myself into the culture. The main thing that sets me apart from others is that I have a lot of creative control over every process of my music. I plan mood boards for all my outfits, I create references and themes for all my videos. I even influence how my songs are mixed. I love every aspect of the process—I take time to plan every detail and execute it as close to my vision as possible.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I definitely want to give a shoutout to my manager, Jordan “JG” and Ten13MediaHouse. He listens to all my concerns and gives me room to truly be an artist while still sticking to a plan. Also, I appreciate the friends I’ve made through music —we all support one another in every endeavor—LA Kenzie, Maxx Goods, $WVNK GAWDESS, and many more. Big thanks to anyone who’s streamed my music. Every stream and view counts!
