Today we’d like to introduce you to Avrie Powell.
Hi Avrie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Aww Shucks began on July 4, 2020. In January of 2020, I decided to go vegan. I was tired of eating fries and other fried foods whenever I went out. I wanted to create something that I would want for myself. So, my husband and I came up with the idea to sell corn with unique flavors. We wanted it to be so good that people don’t realize they aren’t eating meat. Ever since the first day of operation, we have been continuously growing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s has been an eventful road and many challenges. When my husband and I started the business, we knew nothing about operations, licenses, etc., but we learned as we operated. Also, it was a struggle to keep up with the customer demand. We grew really fast.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been an educator for 15 years, but my passion is art. I love to create abstract paintings, resin artwork, wooden jewelry, etc. Over the years, I have created so many things that I am proud of. Creations that will still be around when I’m long gone. I am taking a break from art right now because I’m focusing on the business. Visit my website at www.powellartdesigns.com.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As far as I can remember, I had a huge imagination and it was probably because I read a lot of books and loved crafts. Most of all, I loved animals, and in still do. We had dogs and horses. I was also very independent. My mom taught me how to take care of myself at a very young age.
