Check Out Bryan Terry Snell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Terry Snell.

Hi Bryan Terry, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started about six years ago when I decided I wanted something better for myself. I was working as a behavioral therapist in a mental institution/behavioral center starting at the age of 18 and it was insanely long hours, a very violent environment, and after about six years I just had enough.

I wanted to explore other things in life and one day I had to really stop and ask myself what it was I really wanted to do. What goals I wanted to reach, what experiences I wanted to have and who I wanted to impact. I never thought I could be an actor, nor did I have any interest at this point honestly. The idea of acting really ended up finding me in an odd way and something luckily clicked in that moment. I wasn’t sure I’d even like it to be honest but I remember that moment really feeling like a calling. I quit my job and moved from Florida to Atlanta to start completely fresh with no experience, connections, or any idea of what I was even doing. The journey has been full of ups and downs but when I reflect back, I knew that idea was put in my head for a reason and this is what I’m meant to do for the rest of my life.

Within the past year, I’ve also started my own business for acting coaching/classes as well as completing my website. I want to share my experiences with others and make an impact wherever I can in this industry and it stared with offering coaching to other actors. This is only the beginning of my journey though. I want to be more than just an actor. My goal is to also use my platform one day to improve our state of mental health services in this country (especially revolving around autism, developmental disabilities, etc) and create a movement that will change the way we handle/provide for/and serve individuals with mental health problems. All in all, I believe we all have a calling on our life and it will take YOU to explore that and find that purpose. There is greatness in you and you have all the capabilities to create the life you want. Just go for it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t really think it’s easy for anyone who is chasing down a dream. I would say it’s a mix of quite a few things that make the road tough actually. Financially, mentally, and physically sometimes. My experience may be different from others but I know that while I work towards becoming a better actor and learn to navigate this business, I go through all the ups and downs over and over. I’m constantly calling out of work at my day job, losing jobs, trying to pay bills, pay for classes, keep my head high when I do 300 auditions with not a single “yes”. These are all parts of the journey and eventually, you get these small breaks. One break here, one break there and you start to see that what you’re doing is working. I’ve been very fortunate in my career with opportunities that allowed me to grow and evolve as an actor but even then, the road is bumpy and mentally you have to be tougher than you ever thought you could be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The greatest experience I’ve had on set was the show Legacies on the CW. The collaboration, the cult following of this show and the experience itself will forever be unmatched. Aside from that, I believe what sets me apart from most is my work ethic, rawness, and my ability to adapt. I prefer to work under pressure because I know that’s what makes you great. I know that pressure challenges you in ways that comfortability will not. You have to be willing to risk your comfort in order to grow and in order to become something greater than you were before. I feel different from most actors and I feel that I was given a gift. That’s a gift I hold close to me and I’m very grateful for.

Any big plans?
My plans for the future…….I plan on growing as an artist, collaborating with some of my favorite actors in the near future and really building my brand. I want to expand my acting coaching business and really help others grow as artists as well if I can. There’s a huge world out there, in terms of the acting industry, and I’m really ready to explore it and capitalize on the opportunities that come my way.
