Check Out Davaughn Hailey’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davaughn Hailey.

Hi Davaughn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had been in school for barbering full time at Atlanta Technical College. I honestly just took a leap on faith. Not knowing what tomorrow brings, I grew tired of working with no growth and advancements in so many different companies. I took it as a sign to go ahead and do it. Through some tough trials and tribulations, I’m glad to say I’m at a better plateau with my career and have a different gas pedal attached to my career mobile.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is no smooth road on no path we take in life. Mines came with shackles, perforated bulletproof glass, curfew times, and hopes of better days. I went to prison and almost lost a chance at even becoming a barber. After appeal letters and numerous emails, I was able to make it happen and become a licensed barber here in Ga. I could go on for days about what I faced making the transition to work for self. Let’s just say there are plenty of sleepless nights, frustrating moments, and so much more when doing so. The main key is your continued movement through it all.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My proudest moment is when I learned the man in the mirror. “Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” I can do just about whatever I put my mind too. I’m a barber first, I write and sometimes perform poetry and spoken word. I have a clothing line I’m working on as well. F.A.D.E.D. GoD inc. it’s an acronym (For All Dreams Ever Dreamed) My special skill is not having one. With barbering, I specialize in making sure every cut is “Kroger and Walmart” ready. I want every word read or heard to touch each individual in a different way when it comes to poetry and spoken words, and still figuring out which demographic to attack.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice would be don’t stop, keep going. Take heed to all advice the good and the bad, you can learn from both. Stay focused and again DONT STOP! on your worst day remember better are headed your way.
