Hi Heleyna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was into wig-making before it was a trend in 2015. I decided to start my business Flawfully Glamorous in 2018. I wanted to help women with flaws feel and look beautiful. I’m a professional Wig Maker, I have had the pleasure of customizing wigs for celebrities and I specialize in Custom Color Placement. With 6+ years in this industry, I’ve decided to share the knowledge I’ve gained and created a Wiggy Care Ebook Series so my wig baes from all over can slay all year round.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Has it been easy? Absolutely not. I’ve made countless mistakes, come across terrible vendors, encountered nightmare clients, to only name a few. The biggest struggle I would say would be not charging what I’m worth. That’s a huge no no. I had to remember my passion and my talent are totally worth the price. I also reminded myself whose for me is meant for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I live for RAINBOW HAIR! Colorful hair is my specialty, it doesn’t matter how many colors I AM YOUR GIRL.
I’m known for the connection I have with my clients. They aren’t just clients they’re my Wig Baes, and I value each and every one of them.
My proudest moment would have to be when I customized a wig for a celebrity wig bae and I was credited at the end of her music video. Seeing my wig in her video made me feel sooo proud of myself ‘like girl you can really do anythingggg.’
What sets me apart from the others in this heavily saturated industry is ME. No one is me. I am my only competitor. I am very passionate about what I do, it’s more than a trend for me.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Honestly, the wig industry in the next 5-10 years is going to BOOM! More and more women and men are finding out how convenient wigs have become and how they can experiment on wigs without damaging their hair.
This industry always recycles trends, what was popular then is popular now, and what is popular now won’t be for long.
I’m in the industry for the long run and I am going to explore every outlet this industry has to offer.
