Check Out Kendall Harris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Harris.

Hi Kendall, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been a huge fan of music. As a kid, my mom would give me $5 a week allowance and I used to refrain from buying candy and other things kids my age liked to indulge in, so I could save money to purchase the latest album drop from some of my favorite artists. Two of my favorites at the time were Kool Moe Dee and L.L. Cool J. The supposed beef between the two was one of the reasons I was anticipating each newly announced album, which was likely a ploy to sell records; a tactic still often used today. I refer to the iconic 1987 Kool Moe Dee’s jeep running over Cool J’s Kangol. Since then, I have always been the person who wants to prepare the music for parties. I thought about purchasing all the expensive equipment and starting a DJ business many times but would get sidetracked by other life events. I have worked at Comcast for more than 10 years and although I have been blessed, it is not my passion.

One evening after a long day of work I decided to pitch the idea of becoming a DJ to my wife and all she said was “okay”! I immediately took several thousand of my savings and began purchasing equipment. I have found success fairly quickly. In less than a year I was nominated for best DJ. I personally consider this a huge accomplishment and don’t take it for granted. My wife has been a huge part of my success and has stood by my side – many times literally as she often assists with gigs such as announcements and hyping the crowd. I go by the name DJ K. Riche (Pronounced Rich). The name of my company is Herculean Entertainment LLC. I hope to expand the business, and this is only the beginning. They say: You’ll never work a day in your life if you love what you do and when I am able to become a full-time DJ, I will never work again.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest struggle honestly has been finding time. Work, my business, and life has been challenging to juggle I have recognized that when you run a business there really isn’t a thing called being off. The business has to constantly be monitored to recognize any inconsistencies or arrange and approve deals. Marketing is another. I am not the best at social media but that is the best way for me to get my product to the masses. I hope to continue establishing my brand as a recognizable symbol that people automatically associate consistency.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
DJing is an art form like no other. Having the ability to create your own music, or someone else’s to create an entire vibe is addictive. The engagement you garner from people you previously never met is an amazing feeling. My knowledge of music is what I believe allows me to create an atmosphere in which everyone can feel inclusive and just flat-out happy. I am proud that Herculean Entertainment is becoming a household name. It sometimes amazes me how I can just tell someone to google my company and it goes straight to my website.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories are always Christmas Eve. I remember being so excited and was the only time of the year I wanted to go to sleep early. I did not want Santa to catch me woke. Ironically it would always be hard for me to fall asleep because of the excitement.
