Check Out Kiera Hicks’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiera Hicks.

Hi Kiera, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I’ve always had a love for hair. Whether it was doing my own, a doll or family, I was always playing in hair. I never really knew what I wanted to do or be; however, I just knew I was a jack of all trades. For years I would try different things in different fields to see what would best suit me. At the age of 17, I realized my true passion was hair, I slowly began to perfect my craft and grow my clientele. By the age of 18, I officially decided to go to a trade school by the name of Aveda institute straight out of high school to further my knowledge of hair and become the best I could possibly be. After two long years, I graduated at the age of 20 and my clientele has been flourishing ever since by the grace of God.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Though this journey of entrepreneurship is not easy and never has been, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I learned that when what your doing is something your truly passionate about, you will never give up no matter how difficult, frustrating and exhausting it can be. There were days were I couldn’t keep a consistent clientele, wanted to give up, take a break and everything in between; however, I ALWAYS found my way back to my passion. Every time. I came back harder than ever before. In this industry you have to be okay with changing, evolving and shifting to help reach your market audience. You will never stop learning because there is something new every single day

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I memory from my childhood that I thoroughly enjoy was always the salon experience. Getting my hair done. I love getting dolled up, all aspects of the process in getting your hair done.
