Hi Lacye, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born & raised in Atlanta, GA, USA. I spent my youth moving around various parts of Georgia with my mother. Art played an important factor in my life; it got me through the mental struggles of the financial difficulties of living in the south with a single mother.
I moved at least twice a year around Georgia but managed to attend the same grade schools throughout. Outside of school were unpredictable times but moments for me to build my character and resilience. By middle school, I’d lived in over 15 locations around Metro Atlanta, GA. From apartments to couches to a one-bedroom dorm, I endured.
While in secondary school, I attempted to portray a “normal” lifestyle but after school and soccer practice, my home was a hotel room with my mother on a rough side of south Atlanta. Nevertheless, I kept a brave face at school; desiring to have a sense of “normalcy”. By my senior year, I graduated with honors and was able to attend Georgia State University for a few years. I took some time away from school, married, and had children; seeking that ideal version of “normalcy” -Society’s definition of peace.
The marriage was anything but typical and after eight years, I realized that “normal” isn’t what I wanted nor who I was. Eventually, I divorced and was left alone with a house, two car payments, three young children, no job or support. It was one of the lowest rock bottoms of my life. It was then that I realized that no one was going to save me. I would need to rescue myself. And I did:
I went from being a stay-at-home mother to working under-the-table at a Prominent Tattoo Parlor to a fortune 500 company within eight months. This time of uncertainty developed a newfound inner strength and a Spiritual Awakening for me. Normalcy was a thing of the past; I wanted authenticity.
Through my corporate job, I had the privilege to travel around the world and learn to trust myself again, become introduced to various cultures, luxuries, grow and expand my intuition via solo travels. Through taking life a day at a time and saying yes to new experiences, I met a Shaman who initiated me into Munay-ki rites. This led to learning about pendulums, Wicca, Hoodoo, having Ayahuasca experiences, becoming a Usui and Karuna & Quantum Reiki master, learning various healing methods through more Shamans and most importantly, healing.
During these life-changing moments, I created my spiritual-based business, LAB Shaman, to help others heal & live a beautiful life. I was living in my truth; my purpose. After becoming my authentic self, I have no desire to ever be “normal” again.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ha. Ha. No. And that’s okay in retrospect.
There are a lot of obstacles running a metaphysical/ spiritual business besides the traditional business woes:
For starters, you still have to work and maintain your own Spiritual health. You’re constantly learning, growing, healing, making mistakes, enhancing, and applying your skillsets. Applying the lessons learned is key for me as a Healer. I feel my healing methods and products evolve as I grow Spiritually. There’s a lot of responsibility with this type of growth. You can’t abuse learning sacred healing techniques and use its power to feed your Ego. You have to develop firm ethics and boundaries for yourself and your business. While running your business and helping others, you may need to tend to your own spiritual health at a moment’s notice.
A few months ago, I planned to spend a week on personal healing. I planned a week to do shadow work, spend time in nature, meditate, etc. Then after that week, I get back in the grind of working. It’s now been a couple of months later, I am finally feeling like I am a normal human being. You’re healing while running a business.
This line of work isn’t just transactional (selling products, classes, and healing sessions) but also transformative for everyone involved. You’re healing some aspect of yourself as you assist in healing others. You shed an old version of who you used to be into a better version of you. It’s all a journey. No one said it would be easy; just a journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Spiritual Healer for people who want to become the BEST version of themselves.
My company is called LAB Shaman. “LAB”, for my initials, and “Shaman”, for Healer. When I began my spiritual journey, I was alone and for years, I had to learn many spiritual lessons the hard way. I understand how it feels to be ostracized by the world due to spiritual changes from within. I don’t feel anyone on this transcendental journey should have to go at it blindly. I’ve been blessed to meet unique Healers who trained, attuned, and inspired me to step into the role of Healer to help aid those through their Spiritual or Self Care Journey -so they don’t have to go at it alone.
A Spiritual healer serves as a facilitator to help others heal (never to replace traditional medicine) through energy work, music, drumming, therapy, or a myriad of other methods. Think of us as the spark plugs for your Spiritual Car. I am an Usui, Karuna & Quantum Reiki Master. I also specialize in Hoodoo, Wicca, and Shamanic healing practices. I help assist others on their Spiritual Journey by providing Distant Spiritual Healing, creating physical products, tools, and resources one can use to achieve a desired goal towards spiritual development. I like to apply all of my healing techniques to my products.
For instance, you may purchase a bottle of traditional Florida Water (used for cleansing, protection, and other things) from a company; but I like to apply my Shamanic and other techniques to my bottles of Florida Water- to add more positive and healing energies or an extra “kick” to it.
I love what I do. This type of business isn’t for the faint of heart. It requires dedication, transparency, and practicing what you preach. Your Spiritual Journey and growth is a life-long experience. Your Spiritual path, Self-Improvement & Self- Care should be a necessity in your life but in today’s society, it’s not always easy to find time to do it.
