Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Weems.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started off producing music when I was 12 years old making beats out of GarageBand loops on my Uncle’s iMac. I would burn down my mixes onto blank CDs and make my mom listen to them in the car.
From there, I would start to create my own beats on platforms like Mixcraft and then on my iPad on an app called Beatmaker 2. During this period, I made a lot of beats with stock sounds that didn’t sound all that great but still didn’t deter me.
My junior year of college, I took an electronic music class where I had access to a music studio and learned how to use Logic Pro and I haven’t looked back since.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I feel like I’ve continually been learning along the way which I really value. I tend to have a problem niching down and sticking to one or two specialties. Then, I end up thinking I can do a bunch of different things at once and get overwhelmed.
I’ve also struggled with organization at times, so sometimes I have trouble prioritizing tasks and getting certain things done first.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a music producer who specializes in R&B beats. If you strictly know me from my website/beatstars, then you probably know me for my Bouncy R&B beats. If you know me from Instagram, then you probably know me for my funny dance moves that I do to help promote my beats.
I think my content definitely sets me apart from others because I’m able to showcase more of my personality. I’m always dancing and being silly and I feel like my beat videos give people a little glimpse of that.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
This is very random but I am avid bowler now. I started last year just to try something new and I really like it. I’ve been able to meet some great people and I’ve been able to learn something completely from scratch which is a fun challenge for me.
