Check Out Megan Wilson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Wilson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The birth of my son in 2010 showed me how quickly time flies and how much of a blur those first couple weeks of parenthood can be. When my daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition in 2016, life showed me that you never know what the world will give you. Each of these life altering moments made me realize just how precious life is, how fleeting moments can be, and how much of their lives I don’t want to forget. I want them to have memories of their childhood and those memories to include us as a family. It is a culmination of all of these things that motivates me to deliver my clients their own precious moments frozen in time. Moments that can be looked back upon to remember how tiny their babies were those first couple weeks of life, how proud their firstborn child is to now be a big brother or big sister, and the excitement of expecting their new baby are what makes my job so valuable and rewarding. As time has progressed throughout my years in business, I have focused my work on moments and connections within families. I want my images to make you feel something, to evoke emotion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any business, there are always bumps along the way. When my daughter was diagnosed with her condition, I took a step back from work because I needed to be more with her and focus on my family. A few years after that, I went through a divorce. That was a large personal bump in the road that made me have to refocus heavily on my business as I now was a single mom to two kids and had to make sure I was providing for them. With a small business like mine, personal bumps can have a big impact on the business side. But when something is thrown your way, you pivot, tackle it, and keep going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer that specializes in maternity and newborn photography. My photography style is all about focusing on the connections and love between my clients. And then seeing that love grow when we meet again with their new baby. I style clients in soft tones and clean whites and neutrals, so that their love shines through without distractions. My minimalist approach allows you to see the pure details and emotion in my images.

I am proud of the example I show my children of what hard work can do; of what women can do.
