Check Out Monica Johnson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Johnson.

Hi Monica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 20 years. I moved to Atlanta five years ago and started working with a company called Drybar, which allowed me to start rebuilding my clientele. During the course of my journey with Drybar. I also went to school but continued to maintain a relationship with management if I needed to step away and come back which I did a couple of times, my most recent return resulted in a promotion and I am now the shop educator at the Drybar Buckhead location.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Making the transition from moving to California across the country alone was hard enough in itself on top of walking away from my clientele that I had built over 19 years and starting new in another state. It was a bit of a struggle mentally and emotionally but I was determined. I had to pivot from what I knew and try something different and so far it’s working in my favor.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a licensed hairstylist. I am also a shop educator. My main specialty is hair care and color. I absolutely love performing color services, especially the bright vivid fashion colors. I am most proud of my past accolades early in my career being featured in numerous hair magazines. What sets me apart from other people is that I own the fact that I am a master cosmetologist. I don’t have a particular niche and I am constantly learning and evolving, which has kept me relevant for over 24 years

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is my family and myself. I have an amazing support system and they have always been encouraging especially while learning to truly love myself and own who I am.
