Check Out Natalie Foster’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Foster.

Hi Natalie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey as a digital content creator in January 2020 after experiencing a mental health emergency in 2019. In the midst of that mental health emergency, I realize that I have been procrastinating on dreams of mine to use my life as an example to help other people. So at the immediate start of 2020, I decided to just stop waiting on the so called perfect time to start. I have learned as a group and right now today I’m still learning. Where I am today is the result of constant motivation from myself, family, and friends that I’m going to achieve my goals with God at the head of my life. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my fair share of moments where I wanted to quit and completely leave the digital creative space to those that were already working in the arena. When those moments arose and they still do I have to let them happen because they soon pass. I ultimately end up thinking about what if I did actually quit. I will look back and feel absolutely miserable for not pursuing my dreams. For me, where I am today is a matter of pushing past self-doubt even when I know I’m highly capable to do this like so many other men and women across the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been far from a smooth road. There have been an extensive amount of struggles with me as a digital creator/blogger. I’ve had issues with being able to afford the very things I need to be a creator which will further build my business. I have had to make sacrifices so I could afford certain products and services that will take my business to the next level. Aside from financial struggles, there have been mental battles within myself where I am fighting with myself to continue in the digital creative space. I’ve wondered if people were even want to hear what I say what I bring value would I help someone, there has been the question the struggle of questioning myself if I’m even good enough to share my life experiences in order to motivate other black women to prioritize their mental health so that they can manage all the things they have going on in their own lives. Oh and don’t let me forget the lack of support from some family and friends which has also contributed to my own self-doubt. The struggle with lack of support from family and friends has been a complete disappointment. I always thought these people would be in my corner for anything I aspired and was working towards. That’s when the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me I got my vision from God not from family and friends. God chose me specifically to partner with him/her to use my voice in my life as a testimony to bring others to Christ.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a blogger/digital content creator. As a blogger, I write blog posts which are like informative journal entries about my personal life. As a blogger, I typically discuss my mental health journey which details the issues I’ve dealt with since the age of 11. On my blog, I also discuss the life of motherhood which is not always roses and daisies in a field. As a blogger, I also tend to discuss my marriage and my relationship with my husband before we were married. I tend to sprinkle a little lifestyle content in there as well about food, exercise, wine, and friendships. On the other hand, as a digital content creator, I am given the free range to express myself across social media platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I am able to create content surrounding the topics that are discussed on my blog. I am able to show my personality across this or show media platforms in order to build more of a community of like-minded individuals as myself who deal with mental health illness and or other issues. As a creator and blogger I am most proud of my constant evolution and my knack to learn more about the spaces that I am building my business in. I think these two things contribute to my ability to set myself apart from others across these platforms. For me evolution and learning are for the means of serving other people. My goal to ignite a sense of urgency across the people who read and see my content to care for themselves mentally and prioritize a relationship with Christ is what sets me apart from numerous other bloggers and creatives. Yes, I am using my life as a testimony but the sharing of my testimony is not about me it’s about a much bigger need and service for women and men within this world!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is a huge part of life in general. I believe risk taking is something you just cannot avoid in life as we decide on the paths we will take along the journey. Risk-taking doesn’t have to be associated with a suspenseful or frightful experience. It can be one that excites you as you have so much to look forward to with the so-called risk that you take. As for me, I know I’ve taken numerous risks within each decade of my life. Some of those risks have contributed to both success and failures. Yet each risk was a learning moment for me to take a more beneficial risk that would have me on the edge of my seat or wondering if I actually made a poor decision. I know that taking risks will be a part of my personal life and professional life and it’s something they honestly I don’t think I can go on without making. My perspective on risks is that people don’t have to be a revolving door type of risk taker, where you just take risk at every single turn. Whereas, people can know when they come to a point in your life where you have to take a risk for the sake of making a new change that could either elevate you or be a teaching moment about who you truly are.
