Check Out Quentin Young’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quentin Young. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Your Local Trashman is a newly founded business, with a more than experienced team. Our founder, Quentin Young, has worked in the waste management industry for over 7 years. It was during his time as a residential trash service technician/driver that he would often receive requests for bulk item removal. Being that bulk item removal was against his employer’s company policy, he took that as an opportunity to create his own business to service those needs. It was then that he bought his first truck and began junk removal on nights and weekends. Word quickly spread along his route and business picked up quickly. Our name stemmed from initially being used in a negative connotation. An impolite residential client of Quentin’s, while he was still working as a service driver, told him that he was nothing more than a trashman and should just focus on making sure his trash can got picked up on time every week. Rather than let this draw him out of his character, he instead flipped it and used it as empowerment. The name Your Local Trashman was stemmed from this incident. Currently, we are serving individual customers but the overall goal is to move the company forward with Strategic partnerships

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Bringing Your Local Trashman to the public arena has been full of challenges. First one being Changing the overall perception of what a Garbageman or Trashman is or should be. My company is very well structured and very professional appearance wise and so on. Plus we take cleanliness to the upmost importance customers seem very surprised when members of my team show up professionally dressed, well spoken and provide the best customer service experience possible. The second biggest challenge would be the customers who claim they can clean their trash bins out themselves and they do not need services or so on. Problem with that is the trash bin is usually not cleaned properly and it is a very time consuming process. My Company has the equipment and the experience to properly do the job.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The way I set myself off from my competition is by simply pretending they don’t exist. None have any experience in the waste hauling industry they simply seen what they perceived to be a way to make a quick buck and started a trash bin cleaning business. I started this company while working for one of the largest waste haulers in America. Started off as one of the guys on the back of the disposal truck and worked my way up from there. I studied market while riding in those garbage trucks I interacted with the customers while in those garbage trucks. Rain, Hail, Snow, Heat and even covid whe where out there making sure the garbage collection routes where picked up while my so called competition were safety quarantined at home with the rest America. Myself and the members of my team were on the front line during the height of the pandemic. The thing I’m most proud of is being able to take an occupation that most people frown down upon and turn it around into a 6 figure business model.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Take all advice with a grain of salt. all praise goes to God and the savior Jesus Christ in times of uncertainty just pray in the times of doubt, Fear pray even harder. its the struggle that makes people stronger. When it comes to mentors they are few and fair, in the age of technology follow the greats. the likes of Gary V, Grant Cardone, Elon Musk, etc. I believe if you shoot for the stars even if you fall short you still land in a better position than you would if you never started in the first place
