Today we’d like to introduce you to Shani Thomas.
Shani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve pretty much been creating my entire life. From making skirts out of jeans to random paper mâché projects. Discovering magazines changed my life forever though. Shout out to complex magazine, that mag inspired my passion for fashion and design for sure. I’ve always been into doing whatever I feel like doing, going against the grain and status quo is definitely my thing. Magazines back then were definitely for the rebels. Some days I feel like painting, some days I wanna write poetry or short films, and some days I want to make jewelry. I am literally all over the place but I love it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nah it hasn’t been a smooth road at all lol but that’s why I know I’m meant for something greater.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a graphic designer, who makes whatever I feel like making in my spare time under my brand, My Sanity Is Expensive. What sets me apart is me refusing to follow how everyone else runs their business. My goal is to feel free, if I’m having to think of a social media post and caption daily, I won’t feel free. I’m just really not into that, I like to live in the real world.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m pretty much an open book and honestly whatever people don’t know I don’t want them to know.
