Check Out Trevor Jackson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Jackson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working in residential remodeling with my father when I was 15 years old. As a natural artist, painting was easy for me. I immediately grew a love for painting and perfecting my own technique as time went on. As I got older, I took on a few other trades including flooring, murals, and carpentry. I established Jackson’s Residential contracting with over 20 years of experience, and I truly enjoy what I do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall it has been a smooth road. I always go into each project with good intentions and confident that I am going to do a great job. I have not had a bad experience with any customer and have been told on multiple occasions that I’m easy to work with, so I guess it’s safe to say I’m well-rounded. My biggest struggle upon meeting some new clients is convincing some that I am a professional at what I do, I’m not here to give discounted prices, and I will provide quality work. As a young black business owner, its easy to be overlooked and not taken serious, but those who I’ve had the opportunity to bless know that they’ll get nothing but the best, I keep all clients in good standing, and they often become return or lifelong customers.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
About 90% of the time, I am a professional painter, interior and exterior. I also do flooring of all types as well I often break outside of the box and create murals, abstract walls, and paint staircases using art as well, which is what I really love the most because creating art opens up a world of endless possibilities. I would say my art is what makes me stand out the most, although I rarely have the time to tap into it these days, it seems that the basics are always on high demand.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a very active child, I enjoyed tumbling, climbing trees, running up trees into a backflip (seriously), building things using sticks and stones, basketball, and football. I would spend most of my free time outside until the sun went down. When indoors, I would draw and paint a lot. I love who I am, where I’ve been, and where I’m going.
