Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Ledbetter and Ron Griffin.
Hi Victor and Ron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Victor is a Director of Business Development and Ron is a Sr. Implementation Project Manager. We reside in Atlanta, Ga and have been together for 5yrs (no kids and no pets..LOL). We are also the owners of Bougie Scented Candles a candles company. Date night turned into entrepreneurship. We both love candles and have been avid collectors over the last few years. From Home Goods to high-end candles online, we were constantly buying and burning candles between. Prior to Covid, we traveled extensively during the week and would constantly burn candles on Fridays and the remainder of the weekend. During the course of the pandemic locked in the house, we noticed we kept running out of the closet full of candles. We’d taken a candle-making class about a year prior and decided as one of our weekly date nights we would explore making candles.
We started making candles every week and randomly gave them to friends for gifts (birthdays, housewarming, etc.).
Friends kept asking if we were going to start selling them because they loved the scents. We didn’t want to start selling them at first because it was a hobby plus we knew a few other people that made and sold candles that we purchased from. However, about two months in, this new hobby had become very expensive so we started taking people up on their request to buy our candles. Word of mouth continued to spread and we were getting sales almost daily via text. The orders via text became overwhelming to maintain, so we decided to officially start a small business and launched our site and new business, and it has taken off from there.
For those who know us, no other name suited this effort given the two of us, so Bougie Scented Candles it was!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has had some challenges during the pandemic. We were able to do pop-ups but there are limited suppliers for standard supplies. So at times we have had to manage that and try to not be too aggressive with advertisement; customer service and consistency is important to us. Of course space was an issue. Making candles every week in the kitchen and dining room had its challenges; we are still figuring that part out while trying to not infringe on both of our personal spaces (in-home offices or the guest bedroom).
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are Bougie Scented Candles. We make hand pours pure soy wax candles with natural essential oils. Our candles can be used to fill a room with an amazing aroma, and the wax as a fragranced hand moisturizer or a massage oil.
We pride ourselves on the quality and the consistency of our product. We are a brand and not a label; meaning we don’t buy in bulk and slap our label on the box. We handle each candle from pour to packaging to purchased.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
This is a complete joint effort between two people who love spending time together and can never sit still too long. We are thankful for the love and support of family and friends who purchase from us and continue to spread the word that a Bougie Scented Candle is a quality product. Word of mouth has been our biggest form of advertisement. We are grateful for every customer that has and continue to love and purchase our candles. Again for that, we are grateful.
