Today we’d like to introduce you to Rica Tan.
Rica, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in an ‘unmusical’ family; I remember My mom came up to me and she asked me to learn piano. I was 5 at that time. Since then, I grew up surrounded by the arts. From the ballet club, the drama club to the music class. My first job as a teenager, is teaching piano to adults. Right after high school, I became a session musician in the studios, and also joined various bands as the lead keyboard player and vocalist, and performed around cafés, hotels, and churches back in my hometown Jakarta, Indonesia. I own an entertainment company for events and wedding, it’s called ‘De Lobby entertainment.
In 2008, I left my business and my job and moved to Atlanta, GA. In January 2009, the journey began. I was offered a job as a music director by a local church based in Orange County, California. So, I moved to California and live there for a while. When I moved back to Atlanta with invaluable experience during my stay in California, and my background. I decided to get back to wedding industry. I love weddings, and events. Just amazing how music affects moods and our emotions. and I believe, Music changes the atmosphere.
“Etude entertainment” was founded in February 2013. Out of a passion for providing professional, unique musical entertainment to those in Atlanta and the surrounding areas.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We know that planning a wedding or an event it’s just like having another job. Our job is to serve clients and understand their visions and needs, so they can be focusing their mind on other things.
Etude Entertainment caters to those looking for acoustic, jazz, classical, and pop music for events such as wedding ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, fundraising events, parties, corporate events, and more.
Whether you’re looking to have instrumental music play during a cocktail hour or you want a live singer to entertain your party, the Etude team is ready to collaborate with you to create the perfect package that will fit your budget. If it’s not live music you need, no worries! Etude Entertainment also offers DJ services, lighting, and a PA system to help create a fun, exciting atmosphere for your event.
Our goal is to provide quality live music for events such as weddings, parties, fundraising events, corporate events and more, because we know every event is unique!
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
I think as an artist, we often follow our intuitions well and that is a plus. But I think we need to use our head as well. To have a vision of your art and what you can do to change lives around you through your art is absolutely important and Always have a desire to learn, seek out knowledge and create something new. After all, we were born to be creatives. Last but not least, trust yourself that you can do it. Art is subjective, some people might not like your art or you, but when you know your worth and when you have a purpose, you will not give up. you have the power to create.
