Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Jackson.
Hi Brandy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey, y’all! I’m Brandy Jackson, one-half of Just the Jacksons and the whole person behind Just Brandy Jackson. I have been with my husband since we were 18 years old and we have 4 beautiful and talented children together. I have been an educator for over 10 years and I have always had to play many hats while in that position. I grew up on the southside (Souf-side) of Atlanta in College Park, Ga in the housing projects called Red Oak.
I always had a passion for helping others see the very best in themselves from a very early age and the art of teaching has always been one of my easier pursuits that seemed to come natural.
My husband has always had a tenacious spirit and lover of all-things entrepreneurial; I on the other hand, no-so-much. We initially began our real-estate ventures in the mobile home realm. We looked into flipping mobile homes because of their efficient cost and minimal investment needed to turn a profit. We very quickly turned to rental arbitrage and car rentals and that created a very stable source of income that surpassed both of our incomes combined.
Once established, I was then able to enter the corporate leasing realm in which I then would provide fully-furnished homes through management companies and private owners as well. We mainly cater to traveling professionals, travel nurses, insurance claims or families in transition.
With the overwhelming response and questions about how we were doing what we had done in such a short period of time, I went back to my roots in education and I looked for a way to provide an answer to those questions while still teaching bringing dynamic value and energy. The only way that I know how to do this effectively in through true engagement! So I wrote a book, created materials to help with the journey as well as a visual. This way, I can reach all types of learners through this process.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not smooth in the beginning!
When we initially began on this journey, we were going the personal leasing route. We had no idea that this was in violation of most management and listing agents’ agreements and leases. We had spent a lot of money, listed our 1st beautiful unit and already had several bookings…and then we got a message that we were in violation of the terms. This was a major blow!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What should we know? We are a married couple who are entrepreneurs and we hope to push more families to create a space for businesses in their family, home and marriages and break generational curses by creating generational shared wealth!
What do you do, what do you specialize in / what are you known for? We run a business consulting firm and operate a corporate housing company for traveling professionals, nurses and other individuals needing short term housing. We also teach others to create their own stream of income within their own businesses in or out of the short term rental sector or in their own businesses as well.
What sets you apart from others? We are unique because we not only show you what to do, we demonstrate the HOW. There are a few individuals in our same sector and they are great at explaining however, they neglect the teaching and modeling piece.
What are you most proud brand wise? I am proud of our brand for creating s space for families to be able to come together and create a space in which not only they can thrive but they can realistically develop a company and business that will provide for their family, foster their relationships and generate as positive cash flow all while being able to spend quality time together.
What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc? We offer courses, classes, group calls, mentorships and published materials that will help business owners create the life they deserve, envision and want to manifest.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
This is super important and critical to growth. Both having a mentor and networking will allow for new business owners to develop in their own niche and be able to attract the clients and customers that they want for their business. Mentors have worked so well for me in my individual business and in the business, my husband and I operate together. Mentors have a way of helping you to get out of your own head and grow to new heights that you never knew existed.
Networking leads to more collaboration which in turn nurtures your individual needs and the needs of the business.
Investing in yourself is one of the biggest pieces that can make or break your business. Pay the EXPERT. You can’t afford to NOT invest in a Mentor.
