Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Karen Ratliff.
Hi Dr. Ratliff, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At a young age, I knew that I desired to assist people in the areas of ministry, business, and education. As visionary and founder of 365 Consulting Group, LLC., I curate youth and adult educational and social-emotional growth opportunities for nonprofit organizations, socially responsible businesses, and primary through post-secondary educational institutions. My expertise includes results-oriented multi-faceted curriculum development, staff professional development, and program planning and implementation.
As an ordained Minister and Doctor in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction and two additional CI certifications from the American College of Education and Quality Matters National Certification Organization, I’ve had the opportunities to not only to minister in Cape Town, South Africa but also trained and developed their leaders.
As the inaugural School Development Overseer and Board President, I authored academic-adjacent curriculum for the Art in Motion Performing Arts Charter School on Chicago’s Southside. This curriculum was utilized throughout all grades and emphasized STEAM, social-emotional learning, mental health and restorative practice, youth advocacy and leadership development, entrepreneurship, social and global impact, as well as socialization skills. I’ve also created and designed similar programs for New Life Southeast, also in Chicago and Hazel Crest Park District, in Hazel Crest, Illinois.
My post-secondary work has been devoted to expanding opportunities and equitable access to students to maximize and support their desired trajectory. As manager and instructor of the Freshman On-Track Program for Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, I was responsible for creating and implementing a project-based curriculum layered with basic skills and pre/post assessments and passion-driven surveys. By design, the program created pathways for young leaders to enter entrepreneurship and activate personal efficacy and accountability while supporting their educational and athletic tracks. Currently, I am a faculty member at Park University, in Missouri, and was recently recognized as the 2022-2023 #1 Adjunct Professor of all 44 campuses. As a primary responsibility, I create and progress monitor diversity, equity and inclusion curriculum for the MBA program which impacts over 12,000 students.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has been some challenges along the way due to unexpected roadblocks that may have been presented if mentorship and resources were readily available.
