Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Jean.
Hi Eve, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a love for interior design from watching shows to magazines to helping friends with their apartments or homes. Fast forward to 2017, we bought our first home which was a full gut renovation that we built from the ground up and did major construction let’s just say this was my first huge project. From dealing with permits, different contractors, to architecture some up and downs let’s just say building a house is not just the before and after there is so much in between that goes into it. Three years later the house was finally completed and we had a few neighbors ask who was the designer on the project even had a few people in the neighborhood knocked on our door to ask because the house was vacant for almost a decade so they notice the new facelift.
2019 after a few neighbors and friends suggested I have an eye for design I decided in 2019 to form the business style of my space designs, 2019 was my research year of how to handle the business side of things as well as learning the process of how to structure everything, a few months later I got my first big commercial project remodeling and designing a corporate office for a farm company let’s just say they were a dream to work with and even though I was still learning myself, also scared at the same time that I wouldn’t deliver exactly what they envisioned let’s just say 90 days later at the reveal I just knew this was my calling it was the client telling “wow you exceeded my expectations we love our new office space” that’s when I decided if I’m going to do this I’m going to go full throttle! I started my Instagram page @stylemyspace_designs and my portfolio consisted of my home the process of remodeling and the commercial project my following started going up and the phone calls and e-mails started coming in which was my 2nd project with an investor in Miami designing and remodeling three properties for Airbnb this was a challenge as well as a learning experience I learned so much on this project of the dos and don ts and implementing systems 1 month later and another satisfied client.
After this project, I started investing in myself as well as my business by going to designer events to even going to highpoint North Carolina where this was the turning point of my business and I said this is no longer a hobby this is my career and I’m going to treat it as such I build a team on contractors, plumber, electrician, every one a designer needs to successfully complete projects to make my client experience as smooth as possible. Every day is a learning experience and I’m still learning because each project teaches you different experiences, different do’s and dont’s but I’m so happy to be where I am I took a leap of faith and turned my hobby into a passion and business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, everyone just see the beautiful Instagram pictures and reels the beautiful before and after but no one sees the staying up late hours to make sure your meeting your deadline. No one sees the several revisions before the final ok this is the one, no one knows that your contractor & your team is the biggest asset to your project if they fall short it can delay your project, your project success is as strong as the team you have, no one see dealing with permits being approved or architectural plans taking longer than expected to get approved which then delays your project. Especially at the height of covid when everything was delayed and the world was at a standstill. The countless back and forth with clients because not every client is a walk in the park to work with but we have to take it all in stride and remain professional through the entire process. The countless hours sourcing the right furniture or decor pieces to complete the project or the delays in shipping that sometimes takes months and we have to go back to the drawing board of sourcing more items good design takes time but the great design takes even longer nothing is ever fast with the design process.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At style my space design our motto is we create memorable spaces with lasting impressions. We offer residential & commercial design, kitchen & bathroom remodel and are now tapping into hospitality we are mostly known for our design work and construction we do a lot of construction jobs, what sets us apart is our signature kitchen and bathroom remodel as well as pantry remodels construction has played a major role in our firm. What I am most proud of honestly is turning what was once a hobby into a full design and construction firm actively growing to bigger projects. What I would want readers to know is that we currently offer services in New York, Atlanta, Miami and that we do project development, work with residential & commercial clients and we are now trying to tap into hospitality and hope to grow even more in the coming years.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Yes, a little about myself on a personal side I am a mom to a teenage son, dog mom and have been with my partner the love of my life for 6+ years. I’ve had other careers I worked in hospitality for almost a decade and owned a hospitality service company for almost four years hence why I have a love for hospitality architecture and was a medical esthetician for a few years. I used to want to own a spa might still do it down the line, before tapping into my calling of interior design but for right now I’m just trying to perfect my craft as well as having a successful firm, especially on the business side of things it’s all glitz and glam but if the business side of the firm is not organized it’s like what I’m really doing right so every day is a learning process but we are getting there.
