Community Highlights: Meet Georgia Wolfe-Samuels of The Redefine Her Lab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Wolfe-Samuels.

Hi Georgia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The most important story is the story we tell ourselves about who we are, the world and our place in it. For women, there are often external and internal roadblocks blocking our progression in our professional lives. Our tendency is to focus more on the external roadblocks – the workplace bias; conscious and unconscious, lack of access to career opportunities, the workplace politics, lack of sponsorship, etc. But many times, the internal roadblocks – our self-image, our limiting perspective of self and what we are capable of, become our most hazardous kryptonite.

Every day, I show up for the world as authentically “me” as possible. But it wasn’t always that way. For almost four decades (yes, you read that correctly) I wrestled with my identity, and as a result, I meandered through my professional and personal life burdened with an unauthentic internal narrative that often influenced my unproductive and non-progressive decisions. These decisions negatively impacted my personal brand (and ultimately my money).

That is, until what I coined my Redefining Season, where through disruption, God showed me who He created me to Be. But He did not stop there. He also showed me the defining moment as a little girl where I first told myself the lie about who I was, and my place in the world (I chronicle this story in my book Redefining Her; My Journey to Self-Acceptance and Love). It took God’s warm embrace, deep introspection, faith, and therapy, to journey through that season, and on the other side come into alignment with my authentic self and purpose. In essence, I redefined my personal brand and now I am on a journey to empower and equip other women to redefine their personal brands.

Creating change from within is foundational to the success we desire. Changing my internal narrative was the antidote to my internal roadblocks and opened me up to new ventures both as a professional and an entrepreneur.

As a professional, I became empowered to make a bold decision to shift my career to a non-traditional role (non-traditional based on the expected trajectory of a CPA in public accounting) because quite simply I wanted to, and the opportunity was a stretch opportunity that aligned with my values and allowed me to leverage my skillsets and strengths with ample room to grow.

As an entrepreneur, I gave myself permission to take bold risks (alongside my hubby) to open up and build The EscovitcheZ brand, a brand that now encompasses a Caribbean restaurant – EscovitcheZ Legendary Island Cuisine and The EscovitcheZ Event Center (www.escovitchez.com), both located in Gwinnett County, Georgia. These ventures allowed me to leverage my creative side in the design + strategy as well as strategic skills in the ongoing business operations.

Redefining our internal narrative entails changing our perspective of and owning our story and taking intentional consistent actions to build our personal brand. Intentionally building an authentic personal brand is important because God has given each and every one of us a unique message and solution that is meant to move our world forward – our personal brand is the expression of that plan. Success and progress are built on connections and our personal brand is the vehicle to those connections. Over the years I have mentored other women and a common factor I have observed is that there is a tendency to play small in our careers (and our personal lives) because our internal narrative either tells us we are undeserving or incapable of more. I want to change that! I want to change that inner limit! This is the inspiration to the birth and launching of The Redefine Her Lab, LLC and the Redefining Her Brand™ coaching program, where through events, coaching and content I empower and equip women to own their story, power their potential, authentically build and leverage their personal brand to advance in their careers and establish a legacy beyond their careers.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
An anchor quote for me is by FDR and reads “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” So, while the journey has not been smooth, I deeply value the pitfalls, the roadblocks, the shifting and pivoting, the ebbs, and flows because they were all necessary to inform who I am today and power my purpose. Along the way I had to journey through fear, limiting beliefs, shame from my story, self-sabotage, sabotage from others but all these experiences have provided lessons on clarity, grit, and grace. Redefining my internal narrative, owning my story and intentionally building my personal brand and legacy have empowered me to move beyond those struggles. Yes, I do still feel the fear at times but by changing my perspective of fear helps me to navigate through it – fear is evidence that I am attempting to step into an area that I have never been before. Fear is evidence that greater is required of me and I am taking action to enter that greater. Viewing fear through these lenses then opens my curiosity and powers me to keep ongoing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Redefine Her Lab, LLC?
As the founder of The RedefineHer Lab, LLC and the Redefining Her Brand™ coaching program, I am on a mission to help women power their potential and pursue their ambitions by redefining and owning their stories, intentionally building powerful personal brands and leveraging their stories and personal brands to build a legacy in and beyond their careers.

There is quite often a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty around making a proactive and intentional decision to change the direction of your career and your life. The Redefining Her Brand™ coaching program is for women who are early in their career or mid-career looking to level up, make a vertical or horizontal shift, or venture into entrepreneurship but don’t know how to feasibly get there because they are feeling stuck, and maybe wrestling with self-doubt, limiting beliefs and fear, or quite simply are lacking strategy.

In working 1:1 with my coaching clients, I am known to provide the G.A.S. (guidance, accountability, and strategy) that they need to redefine and cultivate an authentic personal brand that will increase their influence, visibility and impact and attract opportunities that are aligned with their purpose, ambitions, and aspirations. When it comes to personal branding and building a legacy, I bring a unique lens where I leverage my experience in the corporate sphere for 20+ years (including behind the scenes from auditing major fortune 500 companies), as an entrepreneur for 10+ years, and my personal experience along the journey of redefining my own personal brand, to empower my clients to implement and attain their goals. This is my brand differentiator – a diverse experience that powers my perspective and that allows me to add value to my clients and empower their potential.
