Today we’d like to introduce you to Jai Kitchings.
Hi Jai, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started with a free online 30 Day yoga challenge! I was searching for a feeling of “home” and found myself on a yoga mat. Not wanting the “yoga high” to end, I hastily signed up for a yoga teacher training at Tough Love Yoga and my life changed forever. My goal has always been to create safe spaces for women to reunite with their wild woman selves. This goal has recently manifested into the annual Art of Ritual Retreat, an experience of Dias Los Muertos for Women of Color.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, but I’m learning the more challenging it gets, the greater the outcome. So embrace the bumps! Some of my struggles came by way of a complete life overhaul. In March of 2019, I was expecting my daughter, and by the end of that year, I had lost my job, was a new mom, and had lost my dad to cancer. There was and still is much rebuilding, releasing, and relearning of who I am in this new reality. The beauty in having your world, as you know it, completely change overnight is the ability to create a new beautiful one. Things do get better, but we have to be willing to let it all burn to the ground to start anew.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about 7 After Five?
7 After Five was born out of the need to create space for me to explore. Through yoga, intimacy, and ritual, I sought the most authentic version of myself. I wanted freedom, joy, and confirmation. Our goal is to create opportunities for women to connect to their Wild Woman selves. Current offerings include yoga and wellness retreat experiences.
Our signature offering is The Art of Ritual Retreat. An experience of Dias Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) for women of color. This retreat is hosted annually in Oaxaca, Mx.
The Art of Ritual Retreat is a call to action to awaken your spirit in beautiful Oaxaca, MX as we gather to celebrate the ceremonious ritual of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
It’s a celebration of ancestry, food, and healing while experiencing the rich culture of the people of Oaxaca.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Living a life fulfilled and of truth. I don’t want to get to the end of my life and have regrets. I want to raise my beautiful baby girl to become a beautiful woman, experience the world through travel, and love deeply. If I can help other women to do the same, it would be a bonus.
