Community Highlights: Meet Kc Garcia of Carnation Illustrations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kc Garcia.

Hi Kc, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Carnation Illustrations started off as a fun hobby to express myself during the beginning of the pandemic. Like everyone else, I tried to find things that sparked joy during such a crazy time. I’ve always loved to create since I was younger and it’s something that just came natural! I started this business to spread colorful, wearable pieces of joy to those who want to make a statement! Raised in Texas and as a Latina, we were exposed to so much color and culture I knew it was only right to incorporate such vibrancy into my craft. From fun confetti earrings to bright and cheerful stickers, Carnation Illustrations was meant to spread color wherever it can!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Putting the dream into motion is the hardest struggle. Your business will constantly evolve so it’s important to stay flexible and remember change is not a bad thing! It’s always fun seeing the vision but can sometimes be messy getting there. The struggle can be very real but it is pretty cool to pat yourself on the back once you figure it out and ride that wave on constant!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Carnation Illustrations is a creative business that offers services from brand and graphic design to a variety of women’s accessories. Some best-selling items include colorful confetti earrings as well as clay earrings and fun stationery! My mission is to bring a joyful experience when shopping or collaborating with me! Carnation Illustrations prides itself in spreading positivity and inclusivity from all ranges! As I build my roots in Atlanta, my next mission is to grow within the art community here and collaborate with more local artists and businesses!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Social media is a powerful thing and can help your networking so much! I think when finding a mentor it’s great to make sure y’all share the same mentality and business etiquette. It’s always so easy to compare your business to others. It’s always important to remember their journey is not yours. You move at your own pace and if you make friends along the way, then that’s even better! What helped me find strong connections is making sure you are as equally as helpful and reciprocating the same support. Networking and building goes both ways. Always support those who support you!
