Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Carter.
Kierra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing pageantry in 2015 and that’s when I honed my speaking and modeling ability. I started speaking at community events, churches, and conferences, I started my own organization on campus that year called HEAL (Helping Everyone Avoid Loneliness) and it was a support group for college students adjusting to the struggles of college life. That nurtured my counseling gift though I knew I wanted to become one since 6th grade. My goal in life is to become who I always needed. From there, I branched out and wrote books and became a life coach as well. I wanted to maximize my potential.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was truly a dirt road that is being paved on a daily basis. I grew up in an underserved community and lacked plenty of resources. My mother was a single mom of three, but always worked 2+ jobs to ensure that we were taken care of. I worked hard since 14 and have always found a way to make a profit to make the burden lighter on my parents. I was a first-generation college student, but somehow God kept placing people in my life to get me to where I needed to be. My dad instilled faith in me at an early age, so that was truly the driving factor of getting me through everything I’ve been through.

Kierra Empowers is an award-winning business that is overall known for pushing others into their purpose. It offers brand collaborations, photoshoots (photoshoot assistance and posing coach), sponsored social media posts, events (keynote, panels, hosting, author appearances, workshops (teambuilding, mental health, pageant, etc.), contest/pageant judging & coaching, therapy sessions, and online seminars. Kierra’s faith sets her apart. She helps others starting from the inside out. Brand-wise, I am most proud of my integrity which allows all of these gifts to keep flowing. I also have a rice water business called Karter Water which is a natural hair growth supplement I have been using for years and wanted to bless others with.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Refuse to compare yourself. Refuse to disqualify yourself. Try gain. Do not seek validation from money, your audience, or the opinions of others. Your calling was not a conference call. If you remain integral privately, you will be rewarded publicly. Do not allow the process to punk you out of the promise. Leave a mark that cannot be erased. It will not be in vain.
