Today we’d like to introduce you to Mekinnah Currie and Alexa Clarke.
The journey to RENEWED began many years ago when Alexa and Mekinnah met while at a friend’s wedding. The two immediately hit it off and soon after, Alexa was using her skills to put the finishing touches on Mekinnah’s hair as she prepared to walk the aisle herself.
Fast forward nearly eight years, and as fate would have it, the two reconnected at a local event, discovering they were now living in the same community. Soon after this, Alexa felt a calling to do more and began praying for next steps in her life. Once again, God connected Mekinnah and Alexa, when a random phone call helped them to discover their ambitions, although in different areas of practice, were the same.
Thus, they developed the idea of RENEWED – a fully encompassing experience for both salon and aesthetics. They found a common need for their clients and a common goal to be the best at what they do, while making their clients feel the best they can feel. Their love for people, knowing them personally, and catering to them in a way that made them feel “renewed” is what lead them to team up and create this unique experience.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When we (Alexa and Mekinnah) crossed paths, after not seeing each other for many years, we knew that God had reconnected us for a reason. The desire to be entrepreneurs was quickly felt through conversation between us. After several phone calls and a dinner, we both decided to try and create a brand that was unique and different. Many challenges came along the way. One big hurdle was how a Medical practice and a Salon could operate under the same roof as a team and grow a unique and recognizable brand at the same time. No matter how difficult the business decisions were, we worked through them and came out stronger for it. This process from start to finish took almost an entire year to make happen. We had limitations on our area, size of the house, and of course budget! Thankfully we had a lot of miracles, support, and contractors show up along the way. Every time we hit a roadblock and didn’t see a way around it, God showed up and guided/provided in ways that we can’t explain. We are truly blessed and thankful for the people that helped this dream come alive. We are striving to create a unique experience for our clients/patients while creating a recognizable brand. We want to set ourselves apart in a seemingly saturated market. Making our guests feel welcomed and at home is what we strive to do every day. We couldn’t live out this dream without their support!
