Community Highlights: Meet Renita Hylton of I Still Can Mentorship

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renita Hylton.

Hi Renita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It’s always been on my heart to be a source for teenaged mothers as I was one. I talked to teens here and there but it was during the pandemic I leaped. I walked away from my corporate job coming up on my ten years anniversary to pursue full throttle.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The thoughts and ideas were smooth it was all from the heart but it was me. I was my struggle, my stumbling block. Once I got out of my own way things opened up. This is something I still work on daily.

As you know, we’re big fans of I Still Can Mentorship, INC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I Still Can Mentorship is a nonprofit organization that provides education, resources and mentoring to expectant and current teen mothers up to age 20. This organization is personal to me because I was a teen mom and although we all have different stories, backgrounds, etc., I get it, I get them. It’s my passion, I’m here ready to serve and assist.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I just want to reach! I want to reach and help as many teen mothers that I can. Expand across the state of Georgia, and why not move across the lines.
