Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbie Brooks.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Barbie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started doing makeup when I was in my 11th grade year of high school around 2013. But it wasn’t anything too major, I would just fill in my eyebrows and that’s about it, lol. But once I started getting a little better with it, eventually, the girls at my school would ask me to do their brows too. I graduated class of 2014 and went to college and that’s where I really started applying myself to my craft and started getting into a foundation routine and eyeshadow techniques. I had my best friend named Nesha (which I met in college), I would practice on her face literally every day at the dorm rooms. I would go home and watch videos on YouTube and practice on myself, then try them out on her because I knew if I wanted to do makeup as a career, I would have to learn how to do it on someone else’s face obviously. So, I still do her makeup till this day, she’s one of my biggest supporters!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Always some struggles but I just take them as lessons!
What should we know about BarbieBeauté? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m known for anything glamours. And specialize in making people feel beautiful inside and out! And what sets me out from others is me just being me and just working hard with bettering my skills daily. And I also dabble in modeling.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My mom because she’s a strong woman who would do anything for anyone. She’s like one of my best friends so I just want to show her that me being myself can take us to a whole new level of comfort and stability and provide for her and my father.
