Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Warden.
Destiny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started yoga as a hobby in 2013. Every time I practice yoga, there was no doubt about it, I left my mat each and every time feeling lighter than when I left. Life would keep me distracted whether it was from choices, heartache, school, work, relationship or the past I wanted to create mindfulness and learn how to be more at the moment. So, I continue to show up on my mat.
In 2018, I enrolled in 200-hour yoga teacher training at Nirvana yoga studio to study Hatha classical Yoga. I asked myself if I want to be happy every day what I would be doing. The answer was yoga. Training has allowed me to learn so much more about myself and change the way I want to show up on my mat and in the world.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My company is not even a year old, everything is new to me, and I am learning more every day as I figure out how to be an entrepreneur. I imagined it would be a smooth road and I had everything figured out, however, it’s been anything but smooth and nothing has worked out according to plan. Before I could even start my business, I had to take a look into myself and see what was holding me back. I mean I really had to dig deep get all into my issues, and figure out why I wasn’t getting on my mat and showing up in the world the way I needed and wanted to. Everybody has a gift or talent that they supposed to be sharing with the world. First, ask yourself what is holding you back from sharing your gifts and talents. Then, you have to be patient and allow yourself to grow. I am still working on creating enough space to grow into the women I am becoming. It’s a journey, not a one-stop shop. As women, we have so many roles and different hats to fill such as teacher, student, friend, sister, daughter, employee, and for some of your mother. Don’t let that stop you from giving your skills, gifts, and talents to the world. However, don’t be so hard on yourself, if you are not there yet. You have to be ok with failing, being uncomfortable with trying new things, and owning whom you are good and the bad. Learn your why and the intention and let that fuel you, when you get knocked down, dust your beautiful self-off and get back up. If you are fueled by your intention, let your failures just be a sign to go in another direction.
What should we know about Destiny Rene Yoga LLC? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I help people become healthy and love the process and journey of choosing a healthier, happier lifestyle. I am a fulltime yoga instructor, health coach, personal trainer, and CEO of Destiny Rene yoga. I do everything for my business whether its social media, planning, bookings, or practicing and training myself to become a better teacher. I teach multiple classes, workshops, and events and work with private clients. I run my website, blog and YouTube channel. I also work part-time on the side for extra income. I specialize in Hatha classical yoga, and I have a Bachelors degree in Healthcare management I use my knowledge from my degree from Clayton State University to help clients gain more information about health, lifestyle, weight loss and more. I use my knowledge of the anatomy of the body, chakras, and yoga poses to develop a safe practice for my students. I am most proud that I take my time to develop a practice that is safe and my students can feel good about taking it home with them. I love helping people and at my last job, I always felt like I was doing the opposite. Whether they take home something that I said, or a pose that made them feel amazing, or a healthy lifestyle tip, I am proud that I have the opportunity and space to help people feel better and live a better life. I think what sets me apart is that I care about people deeply. I care about what people are going through and I try my hardest to find ways to help them. I ask all my students how they feel and if I can help them in any way. If I don’t have the answer at that specific time, I look it up and tell them at the next class or session. I consistently remind my students that this is our practice and I just made it up. I invite my students to add what they want me to work on and I incorporate it into the practice.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
Yes. Apps, books, and podcast are my life! I recently decided to lay off the television and social media. Audible from Amazon is everything. It gives you the ability to pour positivity into your life throughout the day. Right now, I’m listening to A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, Soar by T.D.Jakes and Healing the Soul of a Women by Joyce Meyers on repeat. I am currently reading Wild Habits by Tara Mackey, which was recommended, for me from listening to one of my favorite podcast the Ladies Coach. I love the podcast, especially when you’re going through something it’s so great to be reminded you are not the only one. The Roommates podcast and Women Evolve with Sarah Jakes are my top favorites. I love listening to music while doing some yoga. I definitely recommend the headspace app if you are new to meditation. It is a great app to use when you don’t feel like meditating, and you know you should.
