Conversations with the Inspiring India Dinae

Today we’d like to introduce you to India Dinae.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story is far from a fairytale but it’s definitely one I wouldn’t trade for the world because it made me who I am today. I got started with my acting and modeling career about two and a half years ago when I first moved to Atlanta. It wasn’t always my plan to be an actress, I actually went to high school for vocal music and got my BS in Communications media. It wasn’t until my older brother was murdered in 2017 that I decided to pursue what I always saw myself doing, in fact, I only stayed in college to prove to myself I could do it because my younger brother was murdered my sophomore year of college. Yup, that’s right, two of my brothers were killed not even four years apart and it put me in a very dark place that only God could pull me out of. Nevertheless, these tragedies got my attention and eventually motivated me more than I could have ever imagined. In the midst of everything I had going on, I was trying to restore my hair from all the damage I had done to it in college and I was looking for all-natural products to use.

During this process, it was difficult to find products that were truly 100% all-natural so I started educating myself and making my own products that quickly restored my hair. Thus, being the case, after I finally got settled in Atlanta and focused on my entertainment career, I decided to launch iRestore which is a truly 100% natural hair care line. It’s only been about five months since the launch of my company and I am elated with how well it doing, I’m also in the process of writing a screenplay for a feature film and I couldn’t be more blessed. If it wasn’t for my amazing mother and God, I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish any of this and for that, I am forever grateful!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Following your dreams is never going to be an easy road to take and mine has definitely had several detours, potholes, and roadblocks but it’s always worth it. I’ve been deflated more times than I can count, I’ve heard “no” more than I’ve heard “yes”, I’ve cried enough tears to replace the Atlantic Ocean, I’ve gotten kicked down repeatedly but I’ve gotten up. After being in Atlanta for two years and getting few auditions, no bookings and looked over a million times, I decided to write my own scripts and make all the casting directors see my talent. There were times I barely had enough money to pay my bills, trying not to get a “desk job” so that I could still have a flexible schedule for acting and running a business and all that did was make not getting booked even worse. So, my advice to anyone trying to follow their dreams is to NEVER give up no matter how hard it may seem. If something doesn’t seem to be working then you make it work, make people see you!

What should we know about iRestore? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I wear many hats, I am a business owner, an actress, a model and most recently a scriptwriter. All of these jobs hold a special place in my heart, but I would say I’m most known for being the owner of iRestore and modeling. I tend to always downplay my accomplishments, I guess in an attempt to remain humble, but a few weeks ago, a guy that I didn’t know came up to me and asked me was I the model from a photoshoot he saw. My immediate response was “no” until he described it and it really was me he was talking about so that made me feel really good and gave me confirmation that my work isn’t going unnoticed which is what I’m most proud of as far as my entertainment career goes. As for my company, I’m most proud of being able to not only restore peoples hair but their confidence and faith as well. In a world where everyone only cares about themselves and getting to the top, I would say what sets me apart is the fact that I genuinely want to see everybody win and try my best to provide them with opportunities to do so.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important advice I would give a young woman starting her career would have to be to keep pushing past everything that’s thrown her way. Never give up and always come up with a reason why, so on days when you feel like you wanna give up, think about your “why.”
