Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarius and Terrell Joseph.
Jarius and Terrell, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our story began in our freshman year of college (2011) when we met at a Haunted House. Shockingly, we were both with our then significant others. Somehow from that night, we developed a friendship that quickly grew into a relationship. We began dating around two months later and have been together ever since (a little over seven years).
In 2015, we found out we were expecting our first child via surrogacy at the age of 22. While many people were shocked and scared for us, we were completely thrilled. The thing we love most about each other is we have never been afraid to go after our dreams. We wanted a family and we went out and made it happen despite what people said or thought.
With the news of our pregnancy, we were approached by several different news outlets to cover the story and that is how we gained recognition. Unfortunately, two months after we publicly announced the news, we suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks gestation. We were devastated! During this time, we leaned on each other heavily and supported each other as we dealt with the grief of losing a child. Because of that bond, we got through it and tried again. In the summer of 2017, we welcome our son and daughter to the world. It was the most amazing feeling ever to finally get our family. And now, our family is complete; until it’s time to go for #4. 🙂
Has it been a smooth road?
We would love to be able to say that these last seven years has been a nonstop honeymoon, but that would not be truthful. Like many others, we have had moments we wished didn’t happen. We have gone to bed angry when we shouldn’t have, been impatient with each other, said or did something hurtful, and at times, didn’t love each other the way we should have. We have never portrayed that we were perfect and that’s the beauty of our relationship. We have embraced our flaws and have put out an accurate representation of what real relationships look like.
We have remained throughout the years because above all else, we respect each other and we truly do love one another. In our opinion, relationships are constantly evolving. The true test is loving each other through those growth periods and adapting to the new change. While we have had some periods where change scared us, we trust each other to be the person that is going to love and honor us for life.
Our advice to younger people would be to always be yourself. No one is better at being you than YOU. Relentlessly chase your dreams and be open to growth and change.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
We are most known for being YouTubers and Social Media Influencers. We use our platform to inspire people, educate them, and occasionally, make them laugh. 🙂 We strive to promote positivity in the LGBTQ+ community by showing others you can have a thriving, successful relationship without oversexualizing it.
As a brand, we are most proud of using our platform to help a transgendered high school student that was facing discrimination from his School’s Superintendent. This student identified as a transgendered male and was voted, by his peer, onto the Prom Court to run for Prom King. His school denied the request and forced him to choose either to run for Prom Queen or not run at all. With our help, we were able to get his story picked up by several major news outlets and the school was forced to accommodate the views of the public. It’s amazing when we get to advocate for people who may not feel their voice will be heard.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
In 2019, there is literally nothing that women cannot do. We have seen women do unbelievable things like win 10 Grand Slam Competitions and unseating long-standing congressmen at the age of 29. So, to answer the question, we do not feel there are any particular opportunities that stand out for women because women are proving to us all every day that the sky is the limit for them.
