Conversations with the Inspiring LaTonja King

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTonja King.

LaTonja, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Wake up, go to work, come home, cook, clean, and make it to the bed in enough time to get a decent nights sleep so that I can do it all again tomorrow. That was my daily regimen… and I resented it. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a wife and a mom, but somewhere along the line, I lost my identity. I was stuck on autopilot in this mundane augmented reality of sorts. I had lost LK. It wasn’t until after the birth of my second child in 2016 that I decided to make a change. I know I’m a boss, and working customer service from my living room wasn’t something I was willing to do long term. Getting my degrees taught me dedication, serving in the Army taught me discipline and attention detail, and being my grandmother’s granddaughter gave me all of the confidence that I’ll ever need. It was time to blaze my own trail. In January of 2017, I caught the vision and dove headfirst into entrepreneurship by launching LK Executives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Great achievements are never easy. I definitely faced obstacles, and experienced the ups and downs of trailblazing! Trying to adjust to motherhood and start a business was not an easy task. I attribute my success to God’s plan, a little luck, and the fact that I was already an expert in my field of operation. The best piece of advice I have for any young woman looking to start their own journey is to prepare yourself for the failure and plan for success. If you don’t have a plan, you are not going to go past your present. Also, whenever you come across someone you admire, if given the opportunity, PICK THEIR BRAIN! You’d be surprised how many successful people are willing to tell you how they did it. Sharing is caring and I love to share.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into L.K. Executives story. Tell us more about the business.
I truly believe that I have one of the best jobs in the world. I have the privilege of helping mompreneurs streamline and grow their businesses utilizing my proven systems, processes, and foundation building techniques. I pride myself on understanding my client’s needs inside and out and many of my clients face issues similar to the ones that led me to create my solutions. I have become self-fulfilled in that I get to help other women break personal and societal barriers by growing businesses with the potential to feed their families. My client’s success is the fruit of my labor. And that is what makes me the Process Queen.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I was born and raised in the infamous southside Chicago. My father spent the majority of my childhood incarcerated, and my mother struggled to make ends meet on her own. I’m grateful that I was blessed with amazing grandparents who were willing to take me in. Whether we were in Camden, Tennessee planting in the garden with granny or gone for the weekend hunting and fishing in Illinois with granddaddy, it was in their care that I learned what peace and stability looked/felt like. My upbringing gave me both resiliency and hope. My roots definitely set me up for success.
