Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Peterson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my blog, Life By Rhonda in September of 2017 as an outlet to share my love for fashion as a plus size woman. I began sharing blog posts, YouTube videos and photos on social media as a way to provide style inspiration for plus size women. I also wanted to use my platform to show the world that plus size women can be stylish too! I have grown my platform to over 20,000 supporters over various social media platforms.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the beginning, my biggest challenge was discovering content my audience found most useful. Audience engagement and analytics helped me determine the content I should create for my audience.
As a blogger, creating interesting content consistently and trying not to compare yourself to others can be a huge struggle. Over time I learned to unplug in those moments. Take a step back and draw inspiration from places that spark creativity whether it’s listening to a podcast, reading a book or flipping through a magazine.
The blogging journey is a marathon, not a sprint. There are no short cuts. Hard work and lots of sacrifices are needed to grow in this business.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a fashion blogger with a focus in plus size style. I am most proud of the connection I have made with my audience over the short time I have been blogging. I have worked with some amazing brands like Design Essentials Hair Care, Essence Magazine, Adore Me, See Rose Go, Torrid, and more. What sets me apart from others is that I love to give genuine compliments. A nice comment can really make someone’s day.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I think the biggest barriers to female leadership is fear and judgment from others.
