Conversations with the Inspiring Ryan Tiffany

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Tiffany.

Ryan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At the age of 19, Ryan Tiffany had just come home from college, honestly lost and confused. I ended up getting a job where makeup was a requirement. I started watching YouTube videos on “makeup for beginners” until I got it. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I was determined to not look crazy while doing it! After doing my makeup at least 4-6 times a week, I grasped on really fast.
Girls at work would always compliment my makeup and my progress. The thought had never crossed my mind until a co-worker insisted I did her makeup, that I wanted to be a makeup artist. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE makeup. It’s a world of possibilities within itself; the beauty industry is amazing. I just never imagined growing up to be a makeup artist.
I finally got the courage to do someone’s makeup. Surprisingly, I wasn’t scared. I was more nervous about her reaction to the finished results more than anything. When I finished, she absolutely loved it; and that’s when I knew, this was my calling. I continued to practice, nonstop. I slowly started to invest in better products for a more defined finish. A year went by and I decided to move to Savannah, Ga. While living there, I came in contact with an amazing local makeup artist, Shafon Monae, and she hired me as her makeup assistant. I learned so much from her and I also got the opportunity to still master my craft. I took a few clients a month from her overflow to keep my brushes from getting rusty. It was honestly the best thing I did while in Savannah. I stayed for a year and decided it was time to go back home to Atlanta, and continue to grow.
When I got back, I still practiced my talents. When I didn’t have any clients, I would just practice on my bestfriend or myself. I continued to keep up with the latest makeup trends and products and I allowed my brushes to grow. I decided to start branding myself, so I came up with Enchanted Enhancements. I wanted to be known for more than just “Instagram Makeup”. I wanted women to still feel like themselves, I’m just enhancing the beauty you already have. Now a year later and I am working in a salon with wonderful people and wonderful artists. I’m a 23- year old makeup artist following her dreams and leaving her brand in every footstep she takes. I am nowhere near my prime and I can’t wait to see how far I go. Remember the name Enchanted Enhancements.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always say there isn’t a test without a testimony. I went through a lot along the way. I had distractions, bad vibes, and the wrong people around me. I saw a change in myself and I knew I needed to change my situation. While going through a lot, I never lost sight in my vision. My goal was everything to me, I just knew I needed a better surrounding.
If I could give any advice, it would be to protect your energy. The company you keep, means a lot to the person you’re going/trying to become. Stay true to who you are and never lose sight of your dreams. If you want it bad enough, go get it. Only you, can be in your own way. Trust the process and know everything takes time, nothing happens overnight. Put in the work now, so you can play later.

what should we know about Enchanted Enhancements MUA? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Enchanted Enhancements is a makeup artistry brand.
I specialize in natural face application. Every woman is beautiful, I just want to enhance what you already have.
I’m known for my glam-style eyeshadow. I work with a lot of colors and glitters.
I’m most proud of allowing women to come to life and see themselves a way they haven’t before. Whenever a client is in my chair, I allow her to be herself and let all guards down. It’s almost like a makeup safe haven.
Not only do I provide quality work, I think it’s my customer service and personality that sets me apart from others. Any type of beauty service, in my opinion, should be a woman’s playground to feel as free as she would like.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
If you are looking for a mentor, just communicate and reach out honestly. These days, shooting your shot really works sometimes. I say go for someone who you see similarities in yourself, and your work. Especially if you admire their work and techniques, reach out and express that. You’ll never know until you try.
That’s how I got in contact with Shafon, whom which I would consider to be my mentor. She helped me with a lot.
