Conversations with A.B. Burns-Tucker

Today we’d like to introduce you to A.B. Burns-Tucker.

Hi A.B., we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started making TikTok around 2020 during the pandemic. I thought it might be a way to bring attention to my brother Brandon Burns who was wrongfully convicted for a crime that occurred when he was 15 years old and sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. I gained a lot of attention with those videos and then in February of 2022, my platform grew when I made an explainer video on the War between Russia and Ukraine. In addition to TikTok videos, I am a law student and mother to my five years old son.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not. There have been plenty of ups and downs, especially being a law student and a mother. Trying to find time to maintain studying, taking care of my son, making content, breathing, answering phone calls, taking care of myself, etc. There are times when I put a lot of effort into content and it doesn’t do as well on my platforms and then some content I don’t put much effort into they are a hit. There are a lot of personal challenges to navigate in the process as well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Law Student. I have worked in the legal field for almost 16 years. Started as a file clerk, worked my way up to a paralegal, then judicial assistant. I am currently the SBA President of my law school. I work during the day, go to classes at night and take care of my son while still traveling and making appearances on different networks and platforms.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Get organized for what you prayed for and get an assistant. The hardest thing is thinking that the little task are easy to handle so it’s easy to want to do everything on your own, but it’s not worth it. And just have fun with it.
