Conversations with Chris Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Thomas.

Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
CT Entertainment originally started off as an idea of me being a solo musician (guitarist). Playing at weddings and different social events. My first event occurred years before I came up with the name but I do I recall playing at my first wedding in high school and from there on I knew I wanted to use my gift to bring joy into other people’s lives. I came up with the name in 2016/2017 and I finally decided to make it official in 2019 once I had my vision together. I chose the name because I always knew I wanted to expand beyond music. I wanted to build an empire providing different entertainment services. From karaoke to booking a band, I wanted to create an experience for the people. With that being said, we recently acquired an event space so now we’re able to host your birthday party, baby shower, graduation party, reception, wedding, reunion, corporate event, you name it!

“It’s more than just an event venue, it’s an experience.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely not been a smooth one. The biggest struggle was the amount of repairs needed to be done for the event space. My family and I put in hours of work to make something out of nothing. There is a video on the Instagram page under the tagged section that show the evolution of the entire building. Without God, none of this would be possible so we give Him all the glory!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My full-time career is a commercial lines underwriter for an insurance company. Aside from that, I am a musician. I play in a band called The Verge here in Montgomery, where I am the lead guitarist. I’ve been given the name “The Human Jukebox” because I can play any melody or if some would say “I make the guitar sing” I’m most proud of being able to bring joy in people’s lives through creativity. My diversity as a person having multiple businesses including a math tutoring and 360 photobooth business and a career outside that and also (related to music) my unique style of playing sets me apart from others.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I plan to add guitar lessons and music lessons partnering with different people and organizations in the city because I believe in coworking for the better of the community and to help each other grow. I also plan to incorporate summer programs and music workshops. I want to establish a network to where if someone needs lights, a DJ or a band, either my brand has it or knows someone that can fulfill that task. Also at the event space, there are other businesses occupied by my family in other parts of the building. The building complex is C Thomas Ventures, occupied by Geri’s Designs (floral arrangements, baskets, etc., my mom), S and S Printing (t-shirt and print shop, my sisters), CT Motorsports (car dealership, my brother), Carol’s Corner (baby clothing, my great aunt) and CT Entertainment event venue. Our goal is to be a one stop shop for all your needs.
