Conversations with Christina Durden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Durden.

Hi Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got my feet wet with acting during undergrad at Louisiana State University. They were filming the first Pitch Perfect on campus and let students be extras. I was intrigued by the entire process. From the camera crew to the placement of the actors to the 12 hr long workday. I loved it all. I graduated in 2016 and when the time was near, I still didn’t know what I wanted to do as a career. I have a degree in Communications and I knew I didn’t want to be a sports broadcaster anymore so I asked God for a sign. A few days after, I found out that Gabrielle Union was coming to LSU and speaking at a sorority event. I attended the seminar and was inspired. At that moment, I decided to be an actress. I moved back home {Atlanta, GA} in 2017 and started my career then. The first couple of years, I did a lot of background and stand-in work, and in 2020, I got my first speaking role on an episode of Fatal Attraction. So right now, I am in grind mode; taking classes and auditioning to make things happen.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When it comes to acting, I don’t think there’s such thing as a smooth rode. In this business, you have to have tough skin, be resilient, keep training and auditioning and believe in yourself. Starting out, I thought it would be somewhat easy, but I was wrong. You have to learn your craft, practice and keep going at it. I used to get upset or sad after I submitted an audition and I don’t hear anything back, but that is part of the process. Not every role is and will be for me. I know my potential and capabilities and I believe I can do it. There is no plan b for me, so I am going to continue moving forward because I know I am one audition away from a life-changing role.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
You can catch me on Fatal Attraction, season 11, episodes 3 & 13. I also have supporting roles in a short film called GROOM, that is streaming on Amazon Prime now and a feature film titled, Behind Closed Doors, that can be found on TUBI, so check it out.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as reaching your full potential and being able to reap the benefits from that. Whether the benefits are spiritual, monetary, physical or mental, being able to reach your full capacity is an amazing thing and it shows that you can and will only do more in the years to come.
