Conversations with Corinne Victoria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Victoria.

Hi Corinne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a writer/actress based out of Chicago, IL. I began acting at the young age of 3 and continued off and on until I completed undergrad. Through life, I yearned for support from my immediate family, but I learned early that their vision for me did not align with mine. I soon set my dreams aside and worked careers others saw fitting for me. I came from a loving family, but a family who did not understand that creativity could open up many opportunities.

So, what happens to a dream deferred? I woke up one day and took a leap of faith. At this point I already had two degrees and hella loans (I cringe thinking of them lol), but I knew I had to start living for me. I always knew my potential, and I always knew I would be successful as long as I gave it my all. First, I quickly learned that the only support I truly needed to get started was from myself and God. I decided to go back to school for Cosmetology, which was something I was always great at and loved. I became a successful Cosmetologist and opened up a salon. At that point I thought I would retire as a Cosmetologist. It wasn’t until the pandemic shut down that I realized I had not lived out my original purpose, and there was a piece of me that was not fulfilled. I was jobless and I knew my purpose was to write, perform, and enrich the lives of others. This was the perfect opportunity to display what giving it my all meant. I produced “Coco Just Being Coco” on YouTube, and had no idea how many people would relate to the main character. My show became a success in less than a year, and I couldn’t be more proud of me for never giving up. I appreciate Georgia for being part of the top 5 cities that supports my show.

It’s funny how life works. At three I knew who I was and who I was to become. The best advice I can give is invest in your children. The gifts they may display at an early age, can be the gifts that would forever change their lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is unpredictable and we go through it blindly. It definitely was not a smooth road, but it was a road worth traveling. I remember when I was a teen I struggled with finding myself. There were moments I felt I wasn’t enough, which unfortunately led to suicidal thoughts, questioning my worth, and more. When I sit back and think about everything I would have not accomplished, or the lives I would have never got to make an impact on if I took mine… it brings me to tears. The crazy part is so many people go through it especially teenagers, and this is why it’s so important to show/tell them better is to come. My adversities I faced through life have molded me into the woman I am today, and I’m thankful. I can truly say I entered my glow in my 30s, which have been the best years of my life.

Since starting my YouTube series, I was faced with people not believing the show would go far. I had to prove myself… which I did. Since the show went viral everything has been smooth. This is all due to me creating a team and delegating tasks to others. I have found how important it is not try to take on everything myself. I have created jobs to give others opportunities to glow in their specialties. Consistency, engaging with the audience, and writing about what people are interested in have helped alleviate a bumpy road.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At this time my main focus is writing family-friendly comedic content. I am known for playing the role of Coco on the YouTube series “Coco Just Being Coco”. My ultimate goal is to finish and release my adult series, which is going to have people glued to the tv (that’s a promise). I have started it and it is goooodd!! A few of my friends (probably all of them) will see their stories in the series lol, but I’m sure they will forgive me. Our lives have been too interesting and relatable not to write about. Not to worry no real names will be used. I’m not that crazy lol

What sets me apart from others is that my creativity is usually extreme. I like to go above and beyond to create something magical, while keeping my audiences wanting more. Look! I’m trying to be the next Shondra Rhimes/ Issa Raye!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
This is an interesting question. I’m not sure if luck is what has gotten me to where I am today. I have always been a very hard worker who has made everything happen because I’ve had goals and was determined to fulfill them. Every career I attempted I worked at being the best version of me with a strong mindset that more was coming. I am very much the type of person who goes after the win without hesitation, and that truly is just trusting in God. I can say that luck may have played a role in my first video going viral as quickly as it did because it got in the hands of the right person at the right time.
