Conversations with EV Diorr

Today we’d like to introduce you to EV Diorr.

Hi EV, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started making beats when I was about eight years old. My older cousin had a computer and he taught me, but then he went to jail so I kind of stopped because I was so young and I didn’t have my own computer at the time. When covid hit during quarantine, I decided I needed a new skill to pick up. I got back to making beats. I sort of had to restart the learning process. My brothers Ishtro and YS really loaded me up with FL Studio and a bunch of VST. I would call them and ask them questions on how to work FL and make my beats better. I bought an MSI laptop and just kept working on it until eventually I got better.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. Just like anything in life there are good times and bad times. Sometimes I’ll go to the studio and run through 20 beats and the artist won’t pick a single one, or I’ll have people reach out to me and pay upfront for beat packs. I’ve met metro boomin. I’ve made beats that I think are really fire and some that are complete trash. The best thing is to focus on is never giving up and just enjoying the road.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a producer. Mostly for rap music, but I feel like my beats are very unique and can reach a wide range of people. I’m most proud of my project that’s about to drop next year in 2022 and a song called Turn Me Up that I have dropping with 1800Tommy.

I’m most known for mixing ambient/spacey sounds with trap music for a euphoric yet hard feel around the songs that I produced.

I feel like being able to mix different vibes in my beats sets me apart from others. I have a really international background in my family and I think that if you pay attention to my beats, you can hear the influence/uniqueness.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Just being outside with my brother and friends riding bikes or playing soccer. Not really worried about the extra stuff in the world. Just carefree and having fun.
