Today we’d like to introduce you to James Womack Jr.
Hi James, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is James Womack Jr (also known as rapper name Midnite). I’m an Urban Missionary, a speaker, and a Hip-hop artist. I have been doing music for a good 10+ years plus doing ministry preaching all over Atlanta. In these past few years during COVID season, I had to ask myself, “what is my purpose?” I believe that God has called me to be a prophetic voice for the Hip-hop culture representing the Kingdom of God. TeamKingdom Worldwide is my LLC promoting the Kingdom of God in the urban context. I rap about Jesus and other topics at church events and at nightclubs providing counseling for rappers, singers, models, and others because I see that need to help bring change in the urban communities and in the Hip-hop culture alike.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Lord knows it hasn’t been a smooth road. Matter of fact, it’s still not a smooth road, especially when you are on a mission to help others develop in the Hip-hop culture. Before I started operating in my purpose, I have dealt with issues like depression and suicidal thoughts. I thank the Lord that He has delivered me through those tough times so I can be a witness to what Jesus Christ can do. I speak about these issues openly while I’m at showcases at clubs or church events. I’m an advocate of change in our urban communities.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Hip-hop/Rap and street ministry. I’m known for the Kingdom of God. I’m more than just a rapper and I am more than just a Christian. There’s no genre or title to what I do. I preach the truth to the streets and actually have a love for the people. My first mixtape/book “The Midnite Hour” is coming soon. What sets me apart from others is that I don’t do it for the fame or fortune. I do it to be a light to the darkness. I do what I do to promote the Kingdom of God.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love about Atlanta mostly is the FOOD!!!! I also love the family and spiritual base here and the southern hospitality as well!!!! What is not to like about Atlanta besides the crime rate and killings of our own people?? That’s everywhere you go nowadays. Change is gonna come like Sam Cooke said!!
