Conversations with Kim Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Miller.

Hi Kim, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! I started Fit and Happy Personal Training after about ten years in the corporate sports world. I worked for teams like the San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks and multiple Universities but was always stuck behind a desk. I have also been an athlete most of life, focused on lacrosse. After the 2nd birthday of my second son, my marriage had come to a point where we chose divorce as the best path for both our lives. Out of my divorce, I realized that I was happy with work but not really fulfilled. I knew my life calling would be to help individuals more than I was able to in the sports marketing world.

On a complete whim, I started personal training with just a handful of clients willing to take a chance on me. Word spread in and around Brookhaven (where I lived at the time), and suddenly I had groups for strength training classes and tons of personal training appointments and clients. I have taken things as they come to me with this business; I never considered myself an entrepreneur, but I have been able to truly work this business from the ground up. Everything I build with it has come from my own ideas as well as inspired by my clients’ needs.

The best part about being a personal trainer is really affecting people’s lives. I have seen so many of my clients find a healthier place with nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness, and to me, there is nothing better than that satisfaction. I am looking forward to growing my business in my new home base – East Cobb – and helping people find their healthiest selves here as well. I also was able to transition to virtual training and add nutrition services during 2020 and the pandemic and that changed the way I look at how I do things as well. I was able to reach more people in a shorter amount of time and help so many more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. I do not rush into decisions where it comes to my business. My business, because it is self-run, directly affects my life and my family. If I do not put effort into my work, my life at home and what I am able to do with my boys suffer. If I take care of my business, and myself, then I am not only practicing what I preach, I am also able to provide a better lifestyle at home. Even covid didn’t slow me down – you have to learn how to pivot when curveballs are thrown your way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a personal trainer as well as a nutrition and wellness coach. I assist people in finding an overall healthier picture for their lives. For personal training, I incorporate many different aspects of fitness, including strength training, balance work, agility, TRX, kettlebells, core work, yoga, and pretty much anything else I can pass on to help my clients.

What sets me apart is the personal relationship I build with each and every one of my clients. I learn their spouse’s names, their kid’s names, activities they do outside of our work together, etc. Not only that, but I truly care for each and every one of my clients. I take the time necessary to build them programs personalized for them and their needs in particular. I am also widely accessible to my clients when they have a question or concern about something life throws at them.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My own well-being. That might seem selfish, but I have learned in my 42 years on this planet that if I do not take the time to care for myself, I will not have the energy or the desire to take care of anyone else. This means working out, eating right, taking quiet time for my mind, sleeping well and enjoying life in general.

Pricing:
