Today we’d like to introduce you to Love Atiya.
Hi Love, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Love Atiya and I am a sex-positive, animal activist who originally bloomed in Queens, New York City.
I’ve been a business owner since I could talk, thanks to my mother who is the owner of the super fabulous luxury jewelry company “Imani Jewelry”.
Between being a fourth generation entrepreneur and also unschooled/homeschooled from the 1st grade to the 12th grade, I was able to observe and learn a lot about business from a young age.
I learned how to see what people needed and then create and sell a product or service to fulfill that need.
I sold $1 paper fans to my mom’s jewelry clients, in the middle of the summer, at her customer appreciation bbq’s at the age of 4. I created my photography company “The Lens Goddess” at the age of 22 because I knew a lot of women (including myself) in Atlanta were in need of content and photos but couldn’t find a photographer they felt safe with. I created a hair and skin care company to fill a need but we’ll get to that in a second.
After the success of my paper fan business, I created “Power Girl” where I designed my own stationary, candles, picture frames, pocketbooks, jewelry, household goods, you need it? I sold it.
The success of my business Power Girl allowed me to retire at the age of 13 and helped me with my move to Atlanta at the age of 22 which propelled the start of my vegan and cruelty-free hair and skin care company Ethereal By Love Atiya in 2019.
In 2020 I was invited by TikTok to a partnership and became a “TikTok Partner” which started off with me making educational videos about owning a business for their Learn On Tiktok Program, but transformed to me speaking up for animals, their rights and the ways we can help end the cruelty they endure.
One day, in 2021 I posted a simple video on my second TikTok account “iloveatiya” titled “Things I wish I would’ve known when I was a virgin.”
That was the official beginning of my TikTok journey into the world of sex, pleasure, and intimacy. The video received 3.2 million views and a ton of questions came flooding in along with the views.
Thankfully this was a journey I’d begun way before TikTok thanks to my mom and all of her transparency when it came to our conversations about sex and making sure I was knowledgeable about myself, consent, safety, and self-love.
I absolutely wouldn’t be who I am without her.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Sharing my experiences with the world as I find myself sexually definitely hasn’t been an easy road.
I love how much faith my followers have in me, but it can feel like a lot of pressure when you’re receiving back-to-back DMs asking for sexual health advice. I’ve been very authentic when it comes to the fact that I am learning as I go, which is how I’ve always treated my learning style as a former unschooler/homeschooler.
I actually feel like I’m STILL unschooling myself honestly. I have study sessions where I learn an overload of amazing information when it comes to sex and intimacy and love the freedom I have when it comes to my studies.
Another big struggle has been censorship.
From being shadow banned to having my account reported and deleted for a day, it all became a lot. I couldn’t even say the word “Sex” without getting flagged, even if it was educational content.
I am so grateful for the hardships though because it taught me to never be silenced.
I launched my podcast “The Love Atiya Experience” on September 11th, 2022, and it has been the most amazing journey. I feel so free, so liberated, so seen, heard, and supported. It’s truly amazing.
So many things tried to hold me back when it came to producing this podcast, but I fought through every single odd.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On TikTok, you may know me as the girl who speaks about animal cruelty, or you may know me as the girl who shares her crazy sexual stories and embarrassing life lessons online.
I’d like to think my specialty is women’s empowerment and helping people love themselves.
That’s my goal in everything I do! From my Hair and Skin Care Company Ethereal by Love Atiya to my photography company The Lens Goddess, to my creative content online.
I have received so many messages and comments from women thanking me for helping them feel more comfortable with themselves.
I’ve received DMs of men thanking me for giving them tips when it comes to spicing up their relationship and truly pleasing their partner. The goal is always to inspire consenting, passionate, love, whether that’s with yourself or with a partner.
I think that one of the many things that makes me so different from other people in the field is that I’m not scared to say I don’t know everything, I won’t ever claim that I do.
I believe my authenticity and transparency sets me apart because no one else can be me, no one can have the same exact stories I have or say them in the same exact way.
At the same time, I have a love being relatable. The goal is for anyone I encounter to feel like they’ve known me for years and that I’m their long-lost bestie.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Self-check-ins are mandatory!
I’ve found that when I get busy sometimes, I find it easy to neglect myself and what I really need.
Spiritual tap-ins make me feel whole and when I’m on the go I’m not always focused on the tap-ins.
A while ago I created something called an “Atiya Day” where I turn off my phone and go completely off the grid for 24 hours.
It’s literally a day dedicated to myself; I can do WHATEVER I want to do. Sleep, rest, meditate, go to the park, do nothing, do everything, be creative, it’s up to me.
It’s so crazy, celebrating yourself fully for one day out of seven days shouldn’t be this miraculous idea but, in the world, we live in, time HAS to be made for self-care or it’s nonexistent.
I also feel like I have to set the standards for my Lovebugs and Ethereal by Love Atiya family when it comes to self-care, if I’m not loving on myself, I can’t ask other people to love on themselves. Owning Ethereal definitely keeps me on track.
