Conversations with Meagan Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Lewis.

Hi Meagan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the hair industry working at the front desk of a local salon, I had ZERO experience, but very quickly, I knew that I had found the thing that I wanted to do. I loved the energy and seeing people come leave feeling beautiful and good about themselves, so I dropped out of college and enrolled in hair school. For the next ten years, I did every service under the sun and sought out any and all education available, from color to cut, men’s hair to styling, business to social media strategies. I loved my job, but I began to feel burned out and was losing some of the passion I had always felt for the industry. In 2018, I went to an extension certification class that would change the trajectory of my career and honestly my life. I immediately fell in love with the transformations and the constant challenge of perfecting this skill set.

Within the first six months, I knew that I wanted to specialize in extensions and deliver a unique experience to each client that sat in my chair. This decision led me to opening up my own space. I started slow in a studio by myself, and my business took off. I realized that extensions are way more than wanting longer or thicker hair, they offer the opportunity to women to feel like their true selves. Whether you have lost hair, dealt with thinning hair, or just never had the hair that you dreamed of, extensions fix that. There is a real need for this service, hair is a huge part of peoples identities and that’s what has pushed me to continue growing and providing the best service possible for each client. Early 2022, I opened a larger space with two amazing stylists, it’s beautiful and not like any other salon I’ve ever seen. We want our clients to feel comfortable, relaxed, and honestly like they are hanging out with a good friend, that’s what coming to Wildhearts is like!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, the main struggle was to just keep going. It’s hard to make a change, it’s hard to learn something new, it sucks to be bad at something! And in the beginning, you are always going to be bad. But intuitively, I knew that I had to push through, that there was something bigger and more meaningful than what I was doing, and being uncomfortable would inevitably be worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in luxury extensions. I am known for creating a seamless blend between my client’s real hair and extensions, we constantly hear that “nobody even knows I have extensions!”. I am very proud of the details that go into every single client to make their hair and experience completely customized to their own needs, wants, and lifestyle. Extensions are not a one size fits all and knowing how to adapt our service to each individual is what sets me apart.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Helping people feel confident and beautiful.
