Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Thompson.
Hi Raven, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Raving Relations is a virtual service that helps Real Estate agents build and maintain their brands through creative direction. We provide a variety of services, such as graphic designing, copywriting, all-around content creating.
The entrepreneurial spirit was always in me – I am the oldest of three girls, so I like to consider myself literally a natural-born leader. I started doing hair (a self-taught talent I established from having 2 little sisters), which quickly became a high-demand service. By my senior year of high school, I was braiding and sewing in weaves for my close friends and acquaintances. This then grew into a greater business that allowed me to move to Atlanta after saving up over time. Months after graduating with my BA in Communications, I. was calling Atlanta my new home!
Atlanta always naturally resonated with me. I never doubted or questioned the move, I just went with my instinct and made it happen and work for me. After months in Atlanta, a Real Estate brokerage offered me a position formally known as a “Director of First Impressions”… which is just a fancy word for a “Front Desk receptionist.” I underestimated that role and all that it had to offer, but most importantly it was me underestimating myself. Having a role where you are everyone’s FIRST impression made it quite easy for me to build and cultivate relationships with seasoned AND newly licensed Real Estate agents in South Fulton of Atlanta. Within less than 6 months of working that job, I started teaching social media marketing classes, allowing many agents to grow their trust in me even more. I am already a very observant person, but my role as the Director of First Impressions enabled me to ask more questions beyond the “norm”. I grew really fond of Real Estate, the business and personal relationships it entails. With so much influence around me, “Raving Relations” was born, and I created my own business as a Social Media Manager.
I have now been servicing Realtors of all production statuses, backgrounds, and regions for the past 3 years… by providing them with creative direction to build and illustrate their brand through digital and social media marketing. I’ve assisted 20 agents thus far and am simply looking forward to further promoting and growing my business from what I already started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. I moved to Atlanta on a solo mission, and with that alone comes trials. My personal growth has sometimes created conflict and delays with my growth in my business, but I have YET to give up. I’ve never necessarily struggled with attracting or getting new clients. By the grace of my higher power, I am always fulfilled in that area. My main struggles were the ones within myself. The self-doubt, negative thoughts, fear of failing, fear of being MYSELF, all while on the journey of healing and finding myself. It’s been a ride, but I haven’t gotten off yet.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I help Real Estate agents build and maintain their brands through creative direction. In such a thriving industry and housing market, especially in Atlanta, many people struggle with being “different” and standing out from their competition – I help Realtors identify their brand and be their TRUE selves. I specialize in marketing campaigns, social media management, graphic design, and copywriting. I’m proud of myself for being able to create something of my own out of nothing and educating myself to continue to grow and better support my clients. What sets me apart is my administrative background in Real Estate and my personal connection with Realtors. My work ethic extends beyond social media and digital marketing, I pride myself in my ability to GROW WITH my clients and understand the true nature behind Real Estate, the “behind the scenes”, and rather than just trying to profit, my business has a purpose. I’ve pushed and coached some Agents above and beyond their comfort zone to attract their ideal clients while maintaining their individual identity.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My ability to relate to anyone while staying my unique self. I look at life in a very intense and passionate light, and I think my sincerity, empathy, and overall resilience help people relate to me too. I’m a firm believer in creating opportunity out of every opportunity, so growing from what was supposed to be “just” a front desk job to creating my OWN business definitely illustrates my success and says a lot about my tenacity!
