Today we’d like to introduce you to Rena Rich.
Hi Rena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Thank you so much for the opportunity! My name is Rena but I go by Stooshiie. I am of Jamaican and Guyanese descent and originally from Brooklyn, NY. I chose to make Georgia my new home and I am loving it. Coming from a place like NYC, where creatives and fashion thrive, I feel at home. Here, you see a lot of spaces geared towards uplifting, encouraging and producing successful black people and I couldn’t be more inspired. Growing up, I’ve always gravitated towards being seen; from musical chairs & dance contests, to taking acting classes & participating in a pageant. I’ve always been the type that loves to be photographed and I love taking pictures and capturing memories with family and friends. From Myspace, to now Instagram, I enjoy posting my adventures/travels, fun, food and everything else on social media. I started my content page on Instagram in May of this year. My intention for starting it was to have a fresh start to publiclypresent my creativity showing things I like to do with an emphasis on trying new restaurants & experiences I discover in ATL and OTP.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road because content creating is a very competitive space. It’s a challenge to continuously bring great content to the people that have taken the chance to follow my page, while anticipating it would make more people want to follow along on my journey. Staying on top of new trends, new places to visit, trending sounds & posting frequently, all while remaining authentically me is very challenging. I enjoy challenging myselfthough, so I will not stop at something until I master it; especially if I enjoy what I am doing. I will continue being myself and bringing the content I think people would like to see and hope it resonates with current and new supporters.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a content creator on Instagram: Vibinwithstooshiie__. I visit and film new places I discover and bring it to my audience in hopes they’d like to check it out as well. Being originally from NYC with so many restaurants and great tasting food, Georgia has big shoes to fill lol and so far I can say I have found some great places. There is always something new to see and do here because the state is so big. I love it here for the fact that it’s open air, there’s always a festival going on in a different city, so many restaurants and new ones always opening, the southern food and hospitality & the many different hiking trails. On my page, you can expect road trips/travel, food, lifestyle and pop-up experiences. Thus far, I am proud of the fact that I have not given up and continue to learn the craft all while attracting supporters being my authentic self. I have much further to go but I am grateful for my current growth. In the near future, I would like to partner with brands to showcase my creativity even further. I also started a new business makingjournals on Amazon, with much more to come, so check that out as well.
What matters most to you?
Having a rewarding career while making memories, having fun and experiencing new things is what matters most. Whether it be with family or friends, living it up is so important especially in these times of uncertainty. Waking up every day feeling grateful for another day and living it to my full potential is a blessing.
