Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabra Lucas.
Hi Sabra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a mom of five, an author, a personal trainer, a nutrition coach, a waitress, a girlfriend and an active woman who literally just can’t sit still. I was raised on a plant-based diet but never questioned the why behind it. For us, it was just how things were. It was our lifestyle. (And it still is!) When I became pregnant with my first child is when I started really digging into the why behind my healthy upbringing. I quickly started learning that the fountain youth is more in how we take care of our bodies than finding a secret fountain of magical water. Although, water is part of it. *big grin”. For 20 years, I nerded out on articles and books about herbs and how they can heal us, disease and what causes it, exercise and how it can slow the process of aging, etc. It became my life. As a fit and healthy mother who looked 10-12 years younger than her actual age, I had a lot of people asking me what I did and how. They wanted the magic pill. And by nature, I started helping people “get healthy”.
In 2018, I started blogging about my lifestyle so that I could help a wider range of people get healthy. It is not just one single thing that makes us healthy. A regular good diet isn’t as powerful without exercise. And exercise isn’t worth as much if the nutrition isn’t aligned. Health is a balance of eight natural elements that ultimately produces the “magic pill.” These eight natural elements complete the constant cycle of balanced health in our mental, spiritual and physical well-being. Balance8life is in the early phases of growth. I am in the process of developing online, interactive programs to help people who want to get healthy, feel better and eat right, but don’t know-how. My blog already offers a ton of free resources and soon my online programs will open up so much opportunity for those I can’t meet in person! I will be offering one-on-one sessions as well, but that will be later in the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth ride, but I would say it has been more of a slow ride rather than bumpy. I have been through a lot in my life. Before all of this, I was a traveling singer/songwriter/musician. That starving musician saying isn’t a saying for nothing. It has been a very long climb up, and I intend to continue climbing until the day I die. I have a lot of irons in the fire and am happier being busy, so I keep things crazy! I would have to say that the biggest struggle for me has been my belief in myself. It is easy to tell yourself that you can’t do it, or that someone else has more to offer than you do. So believing in myself has probably been one of my biggest struggles. I have come a very long way though! And I have to say that listening to Ed Mylett has probably been one of the biggest influencers in my life that has helped me push through the times when I’ve been down on myself and unsure where to go next (as far as business-related growth).
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in natural health and a plant-based lifestyle. I train clients from the core out, because I truly believe that, unless we have a strong core, (in all aspects of life) we will really struggle to be strong. And I’m not just speaking physical, I’m also meaning mentally and spiritually! I am proud of the fact that I live what I preach. I do what I say and say what I do. I am a living, breathing example of Balance8life. If you want what I have, well, come on over. I’ll show you how it’s done!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Consistency and perseverance. Nothing happens immediately and nothing lasts without consistently adapting and pivoting and setting new goals once one goal is reached, whether that is in a workout a diet or some other lifestyle habit.
